Obama has no lost on an issue 90% agree with him on. Compare that to W and trying to privatize soc sec. Obama's essentially campaiging for Hillary in 16. He continues to drive the narrative on issues. Everyone knows that there will be another Sandy Hook

This wasn't an example of obama's lack of leadership skills. A true leader picks his battles better. obama has decided not lead, but dictate according to his own whims and desires. Whims and desires that are in total opposition to what the people want. In true dictatorial fashion, he has promised to punish those democrats who followed the direction of their constituents rather than what he told them to do.

as for punishing those who went against him -- well, good luck; support of gun control has never been a motivating voting issue and this wont be either. and the fact is the word around here in dc is that despite the rhetoric - thats just for the base -- they are already want to move away from this and on to immigration which they dont want made tougher to get through as a result of this. i think a lot of immigration reform opponents are going to be very encouraged by this and more inclined to fight it .

Every issue is the same. Obama is allowing the gop to move further form the middle. however, it's possible that the dims will destroy themselves as well.

The defeat of the gun control bill is another example of Obama's lack of leadership skills. I have never seen anyone in a position of leadership who so profoundly sucks at it.

The obvious answer is staring you in the face. 90% of the public does NOT support this bill! That's why democrats who want to keep their office voted against it.

Liberals can SAY that 90% of the public supports enhanced background checks 24/7 with no holidays off and it still won't be true. Gun sales have soared, not 90% but 400% since obama's reelection. There are shortages everywhere and waiting lists.

Background checks can ONLY affect the law abiding citizen. It will never affect the criminal. Which is why the proposal failed. Most individuals know that.
