To suggest that people do not patronize a specific city in the United States is beyond the pale for commenting on appropriate resource management during a great recession. This discussion is of Obama vs. Vegas.
Focus, please. The president was talking about appropriate corporate spending, was he not? If you can't carry your argument, then move along.
Maybe you should focus, Jake. Conventions are corporate bread and butter. It is their best marketing tool. Obama killed two birds with one stone. Corporations, hoping not to incur Obamas' rath, scaled back convention activity. Las Vegas lost a large source of economic activity. Obama made a fast and loose statement and it was a mistake, but did he learn from it? No, because he knows that he never makes mistakes.
Nothing wrong with conventions if the corporation is paying for them. When they write them off or bill the taxpayers to pay for golf and spa visits, the taxpayers have a right to be outraged
