Obama endorses Harris - weirdly in the middle of the night.

Everyone has called Trump a threat to democracy. JD Vance,

Before non-endorsement decision, Washington Post called Trump 'dreadful' and 'worst president of modern times'

Washington Post skipping presidential endorsement in 2024 after years of calling Trump a threat to the country

RFK Jr. said Trump was a threat

Nikki said it

Christie and Mitt still say it

22 people who worked with Trump say he's unfit, a fascist and unhinged.
give us an example of Trumps policies in his 1st term that would support the claims he is a fascist or a dictator ..

You guys say that about every candidate we have. You guys even said that about Bill and Hillary. But what's the truth?

"I think Bill Clinton was a great president,’" Trump said in the interview that was conducted shortly after the 2008 presidential election on NY1's "Inside City Hall" program.

"You know, you look at the country then. The economy was doing great. Look at what happened during the Clinton years. I mean we had no war, the economy was doing great, everybody was happy. A lot of people hated him because they were jealous as hell,’" Trump said.
You're citing TRUMP! as evidence that Bubba was a good president? I thought you didn't believe what he said.

The Washington Post is in deep turmoil as Bezos remains silent on non-endorsement

One day after The Washington Post announced it would not endorse a presidential candidate in this year’s election or in the future, its billionaire owner remains silent as the newspaper’s staff are in turmoil.

Jeff Bezos has so far declined to comment on the situation, even as his own paper’s journalists reported that it was Bezos who ultimately spiked the planned endorsement. A source with knowledge told CNN on Friday that an endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris had been drafted before it was squashed.

In the last 24 hours, at least one editor has resigned, and high-profile Post staffers have publicly expressed their dismay as many in the paper’s Opinion section are furious over how the situation was handled.

For many current and former staffers of the venerable newspaper, the timing of the announcement was highly suspect and has led them to believe Bezos’s business interests influenced the decision.

This is what I mean when I said the media is no longer liberal. Even if it's pro gay or anti guns. The owner of the company is usually a fiscal conservative Republican. And if he/she isn't, they have advertisers like Shell Oil or Comerica Bank.
More blowback than expected but this is chump change for this guy...

He can do the big forgive afterwards and say that by not endorsing he was doing more damage on Trump than endorsing Harris..

the Trump campaign has denounced those jokes ..
Nope...

They only addressed the island of garbage joke...

But again, they read his speech before the event and approved it... Any apology now is just a reaction to back lash to being called out on their racism...
Only the garbage comment...
There was a antisemitic comment there too..

Hinchcliffe continued, “When it comes to Israel and Palestine, we’re all thinking the same thing, settle your stuff already, best out of three, rock, paper, scissors,” he said. “You know the Palestinians are going to throw rocks every time. You also know the Jews have a hard time throwing that paper, you know what I’m saying!

That's nice.

He tried to be. Right to the very end. And right from the very beginning. He acted as if he could blatantly break the law over and over again and try to steal an election just because Bush did.

Why did Rex Tillerson say Trump fired him? Because "he got sick of me telling him he couldn't do things because what he wanted to do was illegal"

If I have to give you examples, no examples will move you. 20 examples of why he's unfit to serve. He's as senile as Joe only he's also demented. Dementia and demented is dangerous.

You deny all reality

You're going to be so fucking butt hurt. I can't wait. Either that or I'm going to be sooo shocked our country is no different than the fools in Germany in the 1930's
I hate to break it to you, well not really, but anyway - Trump is absolutely on a rise to win now.
You surely know this by now.
Harris is in a slow but steady decline, and Trump is on a slow but steady rise. And, considering that for the past 3-4 Pres elections, polls have consistently under shown Republican support. If true again, it isn't even going to be that close.

Nah. His press is all bad. People on the fence aren't going to vote for him. And our enthusiasm has been up big since Joe dropped out. You'll see.

Musk says Americans will have to face 'hardship' if Trump wins

Trump has said he'll put the tech billionaire in charge of government "efficiency" if elected. That won't be good for Americans' wallets.

As Rolling Stone reports, Musk, who Trump has vowed will oversee the “efficiency” of government agencies if he’s elected president, said during a virtual town hall on Friday that Americans will need to endure “temporary hardship” if Trump wins.

Get ready for the "temporary" hardship coming your way stupid.

How long will that hardship last? As long as Musk claims is necessary, it seems. And he went on to suggest his plans could garner some fierce backlash.

Speaking at Trump’s New York City rally over the weekend, Musk said he thinks he’d be able to cut about 30% of the federal budget.

For the record, this plan would match cuts implemented by Argentina's far-right, pro-Trump president, Javier Milei, who has developed a cult following in today’s GOP. And if that’s Musk’s model, Americans have a lot to fear.

Those policies have helped skyrocket Argentina’s poverty rate to over 50% in the first six months of Milei's presidency. The hardship Musk is predicting sounds quite hard, indeed. Between Trump repeatedly praising the Gilded Age and Musk priming everyday Americans for "hardship" if MAGA retakes the White House, it seems quite obvious that a vote for Trump is a vote for extreme wealth inequality and all the suffering that comes with it.

There is no way to bring the federal government's finances back in line than to have either one of these happen:

1. Some miraculous new technology bursts on the scene that everyone simply must have to function in society, ala electricity, the ICE automobile, the telephone or the internet.
2. Another world war breaks out that leaves the world's manufacturing bases destroyed with the sole exception of America.
3. Americans have to suffer some amount of discomfort as the government's largess is throttled back to match incoming revenue.

Since 1 is unlikely and depends on forces outside government control, and two is undesirable on every level, three is the most likely. How intense and long lasting that discomfort will be depends on the skill and fortitude of those inflicting it. The bottom line remains, however, that no politician on the scene today is even addressing the reality that our current course is unsustainable. They just keep promising more, more, more.

Here's the bottom line. Do you honestly believe that the federal government's budget can actually be balanced without causing ANY pain to Americans, or are you just going to use that pain as a political hit tool?

I knew it. Since Reagan, the rich have gotten rich, rich and richer. I KNEW that one day you would bend over and take it when those tax breaks would come back to bite us in the ass. Just let us know when it's going to happen. Because it doesn't have to happen ever you know. Debt doesn't matter. Unless you want it to.

So yes, vote for Trump if you want a few/couple years of pain. But it'll be oh so good in 3 years and even better with President Vance.

And again, we see the intractable democrat belief that our government's financial situation would be solved if only we would just tax the rich more, more, more and spend more, more, more. You apparently are completely blind to the reality that Congress, in collusion with the White House, routinely spends far MORE than revenue, which means that ANY new revenue would immediately be met with even higher spending, unless of course, we have a pragmatic democrat president willing to buck his own party and a Republican Congress willing to hold his feet to the fire, ala Bubba and Newt. Go ahead, put Harris in office and try to keep kicking the can down the road. Just hope you die before the inevitable crash.

No one said that. But you refuse to raise taxes on the rich. CEO's who's pay went up 1322% in the last 30 years.

You can't fix it with cutting social security and medicare alone either.

What we honestly need is to let a bunch of foreigners in to legally work and start paying taxes. Trickle down ain't working.

All I care about is taking the Reagan, Bush and Trump tax breaks away and putting that money in to Social Security, medicare and infrastructure. Fuck everything else.

We already pay nearly half of our income in taxes at all levels and are taxed multiple times on the same money. Let's say we go back to the tax rates in place before Reagan. Now, you're going to have to also put back the tax DEDUCTIONS that were in place before then. He eliminated a bunch of them, remember? All you're going to do is put back in place all those shelters that the rich used to protect their income. It would be nice to be able to deduct credit card interest again, wouldn't it? IOW, you're not going to get nearly enough additional revenue from doing that to significantly boost SS, Medicare and infrastructure. You're going to have to do what every other tax hike eventually does, hit the middle class.

We can't tax our way out of this mess. If you think we can, go beyond the emotional impact and do the actual math. Then consider the effects. The rich are not going to sit around and just cough up more taxes because you want them to. The ultra rich, especially, are just going to move their money around to keep it out of your hands, to another country if necessary. Then there's Congress' incessant demands to always spend more, more, more. They'll just grab any new revenue and all of a sudden there's a bunch of new parks and libraries with a congress critter's name on them.

We have to tackle wasteful government spending, and Musk is a good first step.

Get ready for the pain. Not you. You're rich. And not me either really. Because I should have enough money to live out my days. I just may not leave my 2 nephews anything. That's okay though because my brother will probably leave them $5 million each. And they both have college degrees from a top school. One's in law school now. So my family will survive.

I was hoping to live off social security and the interest I get from my $. Now I might have to tap into the principle. This by the way is by design. Republicans/Corporations want to bleed you dry before you die. Only rich people pass on generational wealth. The rest of you will move in to your kids basements so you can retire. Isn't that something? Your kids spent all their time playing video games in your basement now you are going to retire in theirs.

I'm not rich. I'm in a good field that pays well and intend to keep working well into my 70's because I enjoy doing it and I can keep on as long as my mind holds out.

What is your prescription to avoid the pain? So far, all I've heard from you is "tax the rich". Do the math and compare the money that SS, Medicare and infrastructure need to the amount you could get from taxing the rich more. Then add in the current budget deficit that needs to be closed. You'll realize that you can't get there from here on more taxes alone.

Again with "tax the rich". That link doesn't address the difference between the budget shortfalls and the revenue from higher taxes. This is my point, you're addressing taxes from an emotional standpoint, not a financial one. You stop at, "We need to take more of what that guy earned because he shouldn't have it" and pretend that would erase the deficit and allow for pie in the sky new spending. You're ignoring what Congress would immediately do with any new revenue and what the rich would immediately do with their wealth and income. Are you even considering the deductions that Reagan eliminated?

Clinton had a surplus. Do what he and Newt did. Don't do what Bush did and give tax breaks to the rich. Same thing Trump did. Only Trump did worse. He gave tax breaks to EVERYONE but those breaks were mostly tilted towards the rich.
