Many have attributed much of the rise in income inequality to the Bush administration's tax policy. In February 2007, President Bush addressed the rise of inequality for the first time, saying "The reason is clear: We have an economy that increasingly rewards education and skills because of that education."Okay. All economies have bubbles. The task for politicians is to recognize them and use them to strengthen the economy. They have not been doing that for a long time. When the economy goes up, for example, they should cut spending and reduce the debt. When it goes down, they should spend more to prop it up because they've created room to take on debt. That is and has not been happening.
As I recall, those tax breaks were for all taxpayers, and there's only so much of a break you can give someone who's paying a very small amount to start with. When a tax break literally does not impact anyone else, you can call it a tax cut for the rich.
Then they are people looking for second and third jobs, because the UE rate would be a lot higher if they were people out of work.
The fundamentals of our economy have been weakening as long as our politicians have been willing to continue piling up debt, and we saw the reactions from the usual suspects when DOGE even mentioned reducing spending or streamlining agencies to gain efficiency. There were only a handful of DOGE recommendations Congress went along with implementing because they wanted to keep the gravy train running. Spending cuts are not in the vocabulary of Congress.
And democrats only care about minorities, the elderly and the homeless before an election. What else is new?
You have conveniently forgotten the concept of reciprocity. You've been complaining for a long time that American workers are getting a raw deal but now that the president is taking steps to give them a better one, you're still complaining.
Trump is a bullshit artist. He says these steps are to bring good paying jobs back home. You believe that? Is it working?
A part of me believes all of this might actually benefit blue collar workers some. For example he raided a Hyundai plant in George. That was a good move. I wonder how many illegals work for non union plants in Red states.
