The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was enacted by Congress in 2010. It is a law that was put into place to make sure that all Americans have access to affordable health insurance. This law was enacted under the Obama administration and so it is sometimes referred to as “Obama Care”. There are many Americans that are for the ACA and there are also many Americans that are against it. Also, as with anything, there are pros and cons to the ACA.
Pros:
For the Americans that are for the ACA there are many pros to having it. One of the pros is that in 2017, the uninsured rate remained at its lowest it had ever been. The ACA has also made it so that everyone can have health insurance regardless of their health situation. With the ACA children are now able to stay on their parents insurances until they turn 26. For the people who wouldn’t of had insurance before, “it has been shown to reduce mortality, improve mental health, and improve self-reported health status.” (Longhart, 2018) Lastly, the ACA has also helped to improve the quality and efficiency of care for Americans. This has not only contributed to better health outcomes but also has reduced costs.
Cons:
As with many things there are always cons to it. Because of the ACA insurance companies have expanded their range of benefits and now cover pre-existing conditions, which has led to higher premiums for members, including the people that already had insurance. The ACA has made it so that you have to have insurance or you will pay a fine. “ACA supporters argue that not having insurance passes your healthcare costs onto everyone else.” (Roland, 2015) If you do not have insurance and you also do not have an exemption you will have to pay a modest fine at tax time. There has also been taxes that have been created due to the ACA, such as taxes on medical devices and pharmaceutical sales. There was also problems with the ACA website that made it difficult for people to sign up. The last thing that is not good is that there are now pressures on employers to give all their full-time employees insurance. Because of this, there are many employers that are cutting their employers hours so that they don’t have to offer them insurance.

Its unavoidable for anyone that cannot get a subsidy.....it tripled the cost of insurance in less than two years...way too fast for people to deal with....now the youth have checked out and it will be even more expensive.....Thousands of Doctors took early retirement...everyone is on HMO's PPO's are out of reach cost wise....he fucked up....
If I were king...I'd have Obama and anyone that had anything to do with this bill becoming law drawn and quartered in the town square.....
