Huckabee Sanders apologizes for false statement about black employment
Sarah Sanders Apologizes For Her False Claim About African American Job Growth Under Trump
Sarah Huckabee Sanders Admits Mistake On Obama's Black Employment Numbers
Sarah Sanders apologizes for false claim about African-American jobs
(CNN)White House press secretary Sarah Sanders issued a rare correction Tuesday night after falsely declaring that President Donald Trump has created three times as many jobs for African-American workers as former President Barack Obama did during his two terms in office.
Sanders said from the White House podium. "That's 700,000 African-Americans that are working now that weren't working when this President took place. When President Obama left, after eight years in office, he had only created 195,000 jobs for African-Americans."
But that's not even close to true, according to Labor Department figures.
-----------
Turns out it was three million.
And remember, when Obama took office, the economy was in free fall. Unemployment peaked at over 10%. When Obama handed the economy over to Trump, unemployment was close to 4%. Oops!
The shock here isn't the lie. We get hundreds of those a week. It's the apology.
