Now we have TWO private space rockets. Thanks Obama!

Blue Origin Beats SpaceX In Race To Land Reusable Rocket

In the test, Blue Origin — a private space firm backed by billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos — launched their New Shepard spaceship 62 miles above the Earth before disconnecting it from the BE-3 rocket which carried it there.

More interestingly, the reusable BE-3 rocket made its own descent, eventually landing safely on a platform in the the desert of West Texas — securing Blue Origin’s position in the annals of private space exploration history.

In other news, NASA recently ordered its first manned mission from SpaceX to ferry astronauts to the International Space Station.

----------------------------------------------

You know how Republicans go on and on about how private industry is better than government at everything. So Obama mothballs the aging and unsafe shuttles and NASA begins working with private companies to develop other methods of getting into orbit and Republicans who hate everything Obama does no matter what it is go into a tailspin of hate that he ruined NASA. For some reason, they insist on making themselves look to the world like the most racist and dirty party in history. And they want to be the party that leads the world? Can you believe it? People don't like them because they are scared of the GOP.

What the fuck does obummer have to do with it? These are two private ventures started by the one percenters that you so hate.

Booooosh is the one who retired the shuttles ding bat, he wanted to go back to the moon and Obama moth balled that program.

The Shuttle's chief purpose over the next several years will be to help finish assembly of the International Space Station. In 2010, the Space Shuttle — after nearly 30 years of duty — will be retired from service.

This is great news. We also have a private mining company wanting to go after the resources!!! ;) What we need and the bill just passed will help with that is to build a strong economic case and infrastructure in space.

I thought the left was against mining, what about the infrastructure here, just saying...

I am not a leftist ;) I am a moderate that believes in social democracy which is the most accepted form of government on this planet.

I am good with mining and even better with mining asteroids that don't damage our own environment. With the resource wealth we can build a ton of infrastructure!

Oh these far left drones and their narratives that are not connected to reality..

Funny thing it was BBBBUUUUUSSSSHHHH! that started all this..

Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX) is an American aerospace manufacturer and space transport services company with its headquarters in Hawthorne, California, USA. It was founded in 2002 by former PayPal entrepreneur and Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk with the goal of creating the technologies to reduce space transportation costs and enable the colonization of Mars. It has developed the Falcon 1 and Falcon 9 launch vehicles, both of which were designed from conception to eventually become reusable, and the Dragon spacecraft which is flown into orbit by the Falcon 9 launch vehicle to supply the International Space Station (ISS) with cargo. A manned version of Dragon is in development.

Hmm, yea, let's see. Go to a moon with a surface that is entirely melted rock and difficult to cut through or mine asteroids that are just floating around for resources. I'm pretty sure I'd go with the asteroids.

And your stupid avatar says enough about you. All the successful nations, including ours, use that system. With differant mixes of socialism and capitalism. And by observing what works best in the differant spheres of human endevour, we can pursue what works best for all citizens. As long as we do not let stupid ideologues ruin everything.

Water is at the poles on the moon, so they say and it was already being built, what is going on with that asteroid man landing program anyways? Been years since I have seen news of it.

No, Bush did not start Space X, Elon Musk did. And he also started Tesla, and Solar City. And most 'Conservatives' hate his guts for being at the forefront of a changing economy.

Delta V for moving things. Look it up.

How gay so now the plan is grab a pebble off an asteroid and put it in orbit around the moon...

Nasa plans mission to land on asteroid and explore deep space

The smaller rock would be hauled near the moon and parked in orbit around the moon. Using a giant rocket ship and the Orion crew capsule that are still being developed, two astronauts would fly to the smaller rock in 2025 and start exploring. Astronauts aboard Orion would dock with the robotic ship, make spacewalks, climbing around the mini-asteroid to inspect and document, and even grab a piece to return to Earth.

The smaller rock might not even be big enough for the two astronauts to stand on; it would have to fit in the cargo bay of the now-retired space shuttles

Personally, I'd find a cave/lava tube on the moon and seal it shut(make sure it is a few miles long!). Once we done this we'd have a base on the moon that could last hundreds of years and we could then "mine" the resources, have a stable environment for large long term telescopes without our planets atmosphere and build the long term infrastructure needed to head to mars.

We could then with less gravity to deal with launch missions to the asteroids and to mars.

The problem with the moon is because the entire moon, at one time was molten and cooled rapidly, the heavy metals and useful minerals are estimated to be at the core and not distributed near the surface the way they are on the earth. And because the earth has moving plates and volcanoes and weather and water, the rock has been ground up and our surface is much more porous.

Also, it is very unlikely the moon will crash into the earth.

Asteroids: Fun Facts and Information About Asteroids

Check out the link. Some asteroids are hundreds of miles across. Lotta ground to build a base on both inside and outside.

Check out what I found on Youtube:

So you read that entire article and that's all you got out of it?
Dunce.
