It has nothing to do with criticism, it has to do with how unpopular it is politically at home in Europe. Since the Iraq war, Europeans have not been interested in war in the M.E at all, the decision to join the U.S would be devastating to ones politics,.even for the right wing there. They do hurt their relationship with america and Israel but it is not as.damaging at home politically. Ultimately, China is hoping America wastes resources there so they can walk into Taiwan under Trumps.term, nothing would be more powerful a message to the CCP within their own country. Trump focusing on defeating China was quite popular, the Neo Cons who wanted war against Iran for 40 years, including Bolton, now suddenly say in interivews that it is not going as they had planned. I would have hoped the C.I.A were years ahead in terms of recruiting from the opposition so that Iran could be free. With the elderly Ayatollah gone it is difficult to see.
