Trump won't put our ships into the Strait, because the pentagon said it would be a disaster to do so.

That's when Trump said that the people who rely on the Strait should defend it, and that the US doesn't get it's oil from the Strait.

You've sort of seen the GOP degrading from the famous "coalition" that Bush Sr. arrayed in the 90's during Desert Shield in Kuwait

to the 2003 Iraqi Freedom his son put together with essentially 2 allies (the british and the kurds)

to us going it alone now.

The fist time, we were in and essentially out in 6 years or so. The second time, we went in and are still there 23 years later.
