The democrats have been trying, for a long time, to progress on marijuana policy.

The GOP loves to throw people in prison for dope. The GOP loves the prison industrial complex that donates mightily to their campaigns for quid pro quo treatment. The GOP loves the war on drugs, its their favorite thing, along with their War on Terror that they also started.

Failed GOP policy is responsible for most of the problems in this country, marijuana and the GOP war on drugs is just another example of that.

Under Obama, Blue states finally legalized rec weed. NOT RED STATES...

The Dems have done substantially more than any republican ever to reform marijuana laws.

Marijuana reform is opposed by most republicans. Marijuana reform is supported by a substantial amount of democrats AND Blue states were the ones to first legalize weed. In addition very few GOP Governors support legalization, AND when legalization happens in Red states it is from the voters, not the politicians. On top of that Republicans fight legalization every step of the way.

Republicans have started the problem, caused the problem, and escalated the problem.
