A decade ago the Dims would be in deep deep shit right now, they would lose the Senate by several seats, and there would be a tidal wave in the House.

In America 2014 however, we simply have reached that tipping point where the majority of Americans want the government to take care of much of their lives. Because of that, the Dims losses will not be nearly as deep as it once was, in fact the only reason they won't GAIN seats is because Obama is very unpopular, and many Dims will stay home.
The GOP voters on the other hand are more likely to show up and actually vote.
