The AfD (Alternative for Germany) party called a special debate of the German Bundestag Friday to discuss the explosive revelations by veteran investigative reporter Seymour Hersh bout potential CIA sabotage of the Nord Stream pipeline. AfD delegate Markus Frohnmaier said that “a red line has been crossed” if the attack came from a NATO country, and that “we need to know who was behind the attack” on Nord Stream.”
"The White House and the CIA denies these allegations.....But we know how much you can trust American intel services.
Just recall (the revelations of Edward Snowden), who revealed that Chancellor (Angela) Merkel was being bugged by the NSA."

Germany has a point there!

We know who it was. We can apply logic. There is no reason for Russia to destroy a pipeline that Germany has closed. Don´t believe Berlin, when they say Russia is waging an energy war. It was Germany who closed NS 1 and didn´t allow NS 2 to start.

The destruction happened before the winter. If the winter would be very cold, Germany could be forced to get Russian gas.
To take this option away, our "friend" has decided to destroy the pipelines.

Remember:

America's propagandists will likely patch up this big hole in their machine very quickly.

But it's a milestone for this board at least, now that everybody knows the truth.

They probably do have some amorphous “right” to know.

Good luck.

The German people should know!

Markus Frohnmaier added:

"We have to provide insight.

We must bring the truth to light.

The allegations that have been raised must be fully and completely investigated.

We need to know who was behind this insidious attack on our country, and who helped them.

The German people have a right to know who attacked us."

Absolutely!

Germany didn't say that. You are quoting a small extreme right wing party that sits in the opposition and is opposed to Germany being in the EU.

I'm quoting what it was said in the German Bundestag on Friday.

They have a right to a voice too, even if some don't like it.

To take this option away, our "friend" has decided to destroy the pipelines.

Remember:
There is absolutely no rational basis for thinking the US blew up the pipelines. Germany and the EU had already made the decision not to open Nord 2 and were committed to ending Europe's dependence on Russian energy, so blowing up the pipelines would serve no useful purpose for the US; furthermore, the speed with which Russia repaired Nord 2 tells us the damage was modest, so again the event could at best only have provided a short pause in gas deliveries. Clearly, the explosion served no useful purpose for the US so there is no rational basis for believing the US did it.

However, all the facts we have suggest Russia blew up the pipelines. The explosions held two great benefits for Russia: first, it provided Russia with opportunities accomplish a critical foreign policy goal by using the explosions and claims that the US did it to try to drive a wedge between the US and EU, and secondarily, to continue to threaten Europe with no gas deliveries during the winter. Consider the context in which the explosions occurred; Russia had already significantly reduced gas deliveries to Europe, claiming some of the equipment was damaged and could only be repaired by importing some sanctioned items so the reduction of gas deliveries would remain unless the sanctions were ended. The equipment in question had already been sent to Canada for repairs and had been returned repaired, so no one believed Russia's lie.

From the speed with which Russia repaired Nord 2, it was clear that the damage had only been modest, but if the US had blown the pipelines up to prevent the sale of Russian gas to Europe, it would have certainly have damaged them severely enough for the repairs to have taken a long time, so clearly the explosions served no useful purpose for the US, however if Russia blew them up for propaganda purpose, to drive a wedge between the US and EU, it would make perfect sense to limit the damage to the pipelines.

Russia chose to repair Nord 2, which Germany had refused to open, but not Nord 1, which was the one already in use, so that if Germany wanted to buy gas from Russia it would be forced to reverse policy and open Nord 2.

These are all the actual facts we have and they all point to Russia as the culprit and not the US.

You quoted what was said by a small far right-wing party siting in the opposition that is opposed to Germany being in the EU, but at the end of your post, you said Germany may have a point when you were only quoting a small extremist party and not he German government. Were you confused about this or were you trying to confuse others?

Nord Stream: “The German People Have a Right to Know who Attacked Us”

Wrong. As A German I have to say the best for Germany is it not to know who had blown up this 2 pipelines - because this is the equivalent to a declaration of war on Germany. And we do not like to accept such a declaration of war from no one in the currently fragile situation of world politics. Perhaps in ten or twenty years it will make sense to discuss about the problem that some people in the world like to force all others to follow their stupid way to know only violently forced fake-"solutions" for not really existing problems. Violence never is any adequate answer to never asked questions - nor to never understood answers. The people who did do this are without any doubt criminals but not heroes.

To ashes, to dust
Stolen from the light
But not yet
Miracles wait till last

Ocean of time
Eternal law
To ashes, to dust
To ashes
But not yet

To ashes, to dust
Stolen from the light
But not yet
Miracles await
But not yet
Miracles wait till last

It's only a dream
The mere whimpering after the wind
Who knows for sure?

The clock on your wall
It's filled with sand
Put your hand in mine
And let us be eternal

You make your choice now
And throw us between happiness and misery
But I can forgive you

You are so near death
And yet your eyes so clear
Know me
I am ready
And seek with you immortality

At first I have no information on any repairs. Second, the item you mentioned was a pump made by Siemens. Canada delayed the shipment. After that Russia and Siemens accused each other. After all, if Russia wanted to operate NS 2 there would be no point in destroying it. It makes only sense if you don´t want it to be operated. So, clearly: Russia has no motivation.

Repairs should not be that difficult. After enough gas has leaked, gas and water pressure are in balance. Should be easy to fix, if you can get down there.

Whether the US is behind the attack, is secondary. The intention to cut our supply is what needs to be discussed. You don´t come home after work and realize competition of your power company has cut your supply and left an offer in your mail box.

Nord-Stream 1 was not closed from Germany and Nord-Stream 2 was only not certificated but ready to be used. If Russia had stopped the war in the Ukraine both pipelines had been ready for "business as usual". This way 'back to peace' exists now not any longer.

Closed by delivering a non-working pump.
NS 2 was stopped by the Bundesnetzagentur, after years of construction. Suddenly, they noticed the Swiss company that would run the NS 2 doesn´t have the "correct" legal form.
What a bogus pretext. Always keep in mind that this government exposed to economic collapse and cold temperatures.
