No Way Alabama Deserves to be in the College Football Playoffs

Why should they? San Jose State goes 12-2 vs. teams like Tennessee school for the blind?
They are all in the same league. Why should only certain programs have access to the championship? There's a shit ton of money doled out to the conferences that participate. I agree that the majority of the schools in Div 1 cant compete against the power conferences. That's fine separate the league. Schools like Alabama are happy to play East Tennessee State during the regular season so long as they know their place and don't expect to be invited to play for the real money.

The hell it is, at least financially.

If they join a conference, they'll lose tens of millions every season. Conferences take revenue from the teams within them. Notre Dame gets all revenue, no conference taxes.

Well then they should then stop bitching about the downsides of being an independent.

A 120+ team “league” isn’t the same as a true league like the NFL. There are examples of the worst NFL teams beating good teams every week.

Meanwhile, I can’t recall ever seeing a San Jose St take down Ohio State. The factors are too drastic, it makes it unfair and dumb

I don’t think they are. They advocated for themselves and then just opted out of a bowl game. The discussion of whether they should have gotten in over Miami or Alabama has nothing to do with their independent status

Makes them seem like whiny bitches.
If advocating for yourself makes you a whiney *****, then you’d probably have to say that all teams are whiney bitches.

Meanwhile, why should a big time team play a bowl game anymore? It’s nothing more than a pointless exhibition game that most notable players will avoid. Bowl games are pretty much obsolete

They still are a reward for a winning season.

But what benefit does it give? People don’t have to accept “rewards”

We won the "X" bowl.

Considering most college athletes don't make the NFL, it's still an achievement.

Especially if you get into a good one as a ranked team against another ranked team.

Yay

Yeah but most starters don’t play on these bowl games anyways.

Some NFL eligible ones opt out, others see it as a chance to improve their draft position.

Most of the issues can be resolved by fixing the College football calendar to move all these commitment dates to after the CFP and the bowls are over.

Fine, then don't play them. Don't pretend it's all one league. That's my issue. You cant have it both ways. NFL teams don't play CFL or Euro League teams because they aren't the same level of football (outside being different entities).

You never answered my question as to whether Alabama was a PO team prior to playing the SEC champ game.

Alabama made the playoffs primarily by strength of schedule and strength of conference.
Prior to their loss in the SEC champ game (which shouldnt be held against them) they were solidly in the PO's No one was questioning that.

Many were. AUB should have beat them. OKLA won at ALA. As Sidenote the SEC is losing bowl games. VA dominated MO who nearly beat ALA. DUK won the ACC but sits out? ND sits out?

Again, at the start of season ALL big names are in. Always. Same names. Few found to be frauds week 1. FlA TX FSU etc.

Bottom line: They can play themselves out but they (big market) hold the top ten spots. All they do is re-arrange them occasionally. No one else can Crack "the system". Only shocker was MICH was out so easily this year. Vanderbilt, ND could not get in. Yawning.

Hopefully this BS will change with NIL money. We've had it like this since NEB OK USC FSU TX were always #1,#2.

Basketball too, very similar. But 68 get in.

ND had the same number of regular season losses and zero signature wins.

Alabama beat Vandy by 3 scores.

Alabama also beat UGA. ND and Vandy had 0 wins against top 10 teams and fewer wins against top 25 combined than Alabama.

15th post
Bama lost to 5-7 Florida State, barely beat 5-7 Auburn, lost to Oklahoma at home, and got blown out by Georgia. I don't see how they deserve to be in the CFP with that record.
They beat UGA in the regular season. They beat Vandy. The loss to UGA was a postseason game which the committee said before the season started they would not hold against teams. They were in prior to the CCG so they are in after it. I don’t get why it’s so hard for everyone to grasp that.
