The reality almost 100% of the issues we have around the globe can be attributed to the meddling we've done in other countries affairs and the ridiculous influence Israel has on our foreign policy. That's Iran, Iraq both wars, 9/11, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen (to be fair that's a war we are prosecuting on behalf of the Saudi's), all the terrorism issues in North Africa (see Libya, Mali Sudan etc). Some of that is just a product of having an empire. Meddling in lesser powers affairs is what dominant powers do, that said there is a price to be paid for doing it. IMO we have 2 choices

1. Continue to do what we've been doing and act like we have some mandate to do whatever the **** we want to whomever we want and anything we decide to do is inherently good because we've decided to do it, and continue to overspend and overextend ourselves to maintain the empire we've created until it all crashes down around us which is inevitably what will happen.

or

2. Actually examine with a critical eye the things we've done and are doing and truly analyze whether continuing that course is the right path. Course correct where needed and accept that there are going to be large sections of the world population who arent going to trust us for a significant amount of time based on our past actions. The solution to our problems wont be quick and it likely wont be cheap (though cheaper in the long run) but I KNOW for a fact we cant bomb our way out of these problems.
