Guy, a war against Terrorism is one thing. A war against Islam is another. There are 1.5 Billion Muslims and only 300 million of us. That's not a fight we are going to win.
Actually, what I object to is our policy of sticking our dicks into a hornet's nest and complaining about getting stung.
After the Jew Lobby took over our government in the 1970s, we have had this compelling need to intervene in Middle Eastern Politics. Before that, we didn't give a shit. It was none of our business. In the 1970s, the Jew Lobby had us all convinced they were Godless Commies, and in the Aughts, they had us convinced they were all Jihadis.
Al Qaeda happened because Ronnie Ray-gun decided that we needed to arm the nuts to fight the Commies, and then we wondered why they turned on us.
Cripes.
Dude, your really did flunk English Comprehension and Reading.
Islamic Jihad is the same as Islamic Terrorism, and that is the target.
It is not a war against all of Islam. That's the fallacy and strawman you libturds always pull out, which displays your ignorance and treason.
BTW, at least one million of those 1.5 million would change religion if that was allowed where they lived. Unfortunately where Islam is the "national religion" and the government operates within Sharia, leaving Islam can be a death sentence.
The USA has been involved in that part of the world since early 1800s, see Barbary Pirates vs T. Jefferson, and the global slave trade of that time.
We have frequently been dragged into other affairs and events around the world. One notable occurrence was when many European nations meddled here by supporting the CSA ~ Confederacy.
Another major occurrence was the two World Wars, largely the result of and caused by the European Powers dejour which again the USA got dragged into. After the second round we decided to take a more active role in preventing the Third one from occurring, and so far that has worked; despite the efforts of you Leftist and your komrades and Jihadi friends to fugg things up.
Post WW2 the USA had to repair, fix, most of the damage done and restart global economy, which included former allies and enemies. Your Soviet friends in Russia didn't help, just did more pillage and revenge, etc. And also been dragged into fixing the fallout of the past few centuries of European colonialism as they turned loose those colonies with little prep for their independence.
As for the Middle East, et al; initial official USA response to formation of new Israel 1948 was neutrality. Once the USSR began rearming the Arab/Islamic enemies of Israel, replacing weapons lost in the First war against Israel, that area became a major conflict area of the new Cold (3rd world?) War. USA's programs of rebuild/repair the post war world and our establishment of international trade provide further incentive to not look away while your commie komrades and others were trying to rape the rest of the nations and peoples.
As for the Afghan affair, initial purpose was to arm the people to oppose the USSR occupation, and as some put it, give then their own "Vietnam". Unfortunately most of the weapons, supplies, and aid had to go through Pakistan and the Islamist faction within their ISI saw that most would funnel to their favorites, which would include the Taliban that ISI "created". When your Soviet friends left, ISI made sure their Taliban allies would take charge of the country.
As for al-Qaeda, they wound up there when OBL got kicked out of Sudan (IIRC) and settled in Afghanistan. OBL was bent out because the USA and WEet had been allowed into Saudi Arabia to base from when repelling Saddam out of Kuwait.
Afghanistan became "a mess" for USA because we focused on the "symptoms" in the country(Taliban) and not the "source" of the disease (Pakistan ISI's Islamic Jihadist faction)
BTW, Islamic Jihad and the 'Jihadis' have been around and an on again~off again M.O. ever since Muhammad picked up a sword and led his followers in the start of global conquest and conversion to Islam. A project far from finished in the minds of most fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists.
A reminder, this world is a sphere and as in my signature line:
We are all downwind and downstream to each other as we are upwind and upstream.
