1) We armed Bin Laden to fight the Russians
2) When Clinton tried to do something about it, Repukes said he was "Wagging the Dog"
3) When the CIA told Bush that Bin Laden was up to something, he said, "Well, you covered your ass" and went fishing.
4) When 9/11 did happen, he quickly lost interest and used it as an excuse to get revenge on Saddam.
5) They had NO PLAN For Afghanistan or Iraq after we "won"

Afghanistan: Franks plan was brilliant and worked to perfection. Franks did not want our troops on the ground fighting, so he used Afghanistan's own troops where he had our men assisting them in tactics. And Franks added our air power since the Northern alliance did not have any. Those planes dropped bombs and others fired at the Taliban. Anyway, they got rid of the Taliban very fast.
Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and the goal was to get Saddam to leave Iraq. Saddam stayed and got captured. His own people put him on trial and executed him.

Wow? Here's the problem with our whole Afghan "Strategy". it was based on paying drug-growing warlords to play nice with us as long as the checks kept coming. Once the checks stopped after Doha, they all went back to supporting the Taliban. We didn't "get rid of the Taliban". It never really went away.
