We could have an honest debate on how to reform or even eliminate food stamps but that isn't what this is. This is having the government pick winners and losers based on politics... I thought you conservatives were against that?

Try and look at the big picture... would you want to deny food stamps to Christians because they refuse to work on the sabbath? or someone that quite a job for ethical reasons?

Food stamps are the lowest most basic social safety net there is and if you start politicizing it will become a huge mess like the tax code.

Just base it on need and feed the hungry. Don't use food as a political weapon.

I honestly don't see many problems with the program. It helps to ofset the unnaturally high price of food in a land that HAS a surplus of food, but has people who can't afford to buy the good stuff.

I have no problem with the program although there can always be improvements.

I was just trying to figure out it they were coming from a libertarian view point or just and anti-union bias.
