2. But they often do a good job finding the perp, even if it is cold comfort. And even if the perp is often released with a slap on the wrist.

3. I cannot speak for any other city, but the police here in Los Angeles seem to do a good job. Some people with security systems say that if you push the panic button, they will arrive very quickly. (Of course, they were overwhelmed by the looters two weeks ago, so they could not stop those very, very, very bad people.)

4. As the Insurrection has shown, there are a lot of very, very, very bad people in this country. Yes, there are some very bad cops. But without cops, we would be at the mercy of some very, very, very bad people. I am glad that LAPD officers are well paid and given super generous pensions. Most people would not want to be a cop. When I've been stopped in the past it's always been made clear from the start why I was stopped. I remain friendly and polite, am referred to as "Sir" and more often than not drive away with a warning.
