the soviets did not win in afgh. after what 2 decades...when the iraq war began it was the afghans who showed the iraqs the weaknesses of super powers.

fighting this "war" in the mountians of afganistan and or pakistan will not end well.....at least bush was smart enough to get this "war" moved into the desert and streets of afganistan where a conventional military stood a chance.....

The moves are part of a broad push to prevent the stalemated Afghan war from destabilizing both Afghanistan and Pakistan. Since taking office in January, Mr. Obama has announced plans to wind down military operations in Iraq next year and shift more military resources to Afghanistan.

Hmm, sounds like a troop surge. But why would Obama do that in Afghanistan when he said it didn't work in Iraq?
