The Great Society was working great, actually- were you alive?... the Vietnam War was the problem for LBJ. And Nixon's secret plan won him the election on total BULLSHIT, the creep.. Bombing hell out of North Vietnam killing millions. You would have to kill every single Vietnamese to win the war.

Demand accountability is another way of saying blame the poor, when actually it is the GOP policies that are wrecking the middle class and the working class.

Compensation isn’t always “pay”. Slaves were compensated with a warm bed, food and water and a chance at life. They didn’t have to hunt for their food, they didn’t have to sleep in a hut and they weren’t dying from murder, disease and despair.

Hmmm.... this makes me recall something Lincoln said to a supporter of slavery, along the lines of "If slavery is such a good thing, why don't you try it yourself for a while."

Slavery was a human universal. We're over it now. The Europeans and their colonies, took the lead in getting rid of it. We should be proud of that.

We don't do ourselves any favors by appearing to justify it.

If you've got any Teutonic or Celtic ancestors, some of them were likely enslaved by the Romans, or the Arabs. They might have had a better material life as slaves, but ... conservatives believe in freedom: even if Communism had produced a higher standard of living, we would still have fought it. Let's not undermine our own argument.

People on the Left need to start acting NOW, and demanding serious reparations: San Francisco set the pace with the rather modest payment of $5 000 000 per person.

This is what right-thinking people should be demanding everywhere: FIVE MILLION OR FACE THE CONSEQUENCES!!

There should be petitions, marches, demonstrations, sit-ins, occupations, demanding $5 000 000 now! Write letters to the editor, get on talk radio, send emails to every Democratic legislator.

My “argument” is ‘those were the the times’. We are retards to think we should try to understand those times and make them applicable to modern perceptions.
However, there is no doubt, ALL of todays American blacks are the greatest beneficiaries of slavery in America….anyone debating that is a woke fool.

Well, sure. The progress of humanity has been replete with cruelty and oppression of all kinds ... we're just hairless, tailless apes, after all. We are the beneficiaries of all kinds of conquests -- the Romans brought civilization to the barbarians, etc.

My real objection to your comments is that they help the Left keep Blacks locked up on their plantation. Imagine an open-minded young Black person, looking at this forum for the first time ... when they see our side appearing to disparage Blacks, to minimize what they have gone through at the hands of whites, while the Left is apparently defending them ... well, we've lost him.

And yet we KNOW that the Leftist line of ever-more-welfare, dropping academic standards, apologizing for Black crime, ham-stringing the police ... is exactly the worst policy possible if you're concerned about pulling Blacks into the American mainstream. You couldn't come up with a worse one. Malcolm X was right.

And some Blacks know that. Already about 10% vote for our side, and there are plenty of Black organizations trying to address the broken family situation, crime, poor attitude to education, etc. And School Choice has proved pretty popular with those Blacks -- not a few -- who understand that the official education system is worthless.

People like Thomas Sowell, Glenn Loury, John McWhorter ... excellent Black thinkers -- have provided a solid intellectual/political foundation for our efforts to win thoughtful Blacks away from the Democrats. We can do it ... we need to have the goal of making the Black population like the Hispanics ... where a minority, but a large one which is growing ... understands the dead end that the Left is leading all of us to.

So we've got to choose our words carefully. People don't just choose sides based on cool, rational analysis. We may be right, intellectually, but if we appear like people among whom Blacks will not be welcome, then we'll lose them.

We're in a war and we want to attract as many people to our side as we can.
