I loyal employee would create such a positive attitude towards your company.
You sound like a business owner and/ or very experienced at managing people. A toxic employee is so costly all around. A benevolent one is worth twice the pay they are getting

It's better to offer him an "on time bonus".

If he shows up on time every day and shows up for every shift scheduled you give him an extra dollar per hour he worked. You pay it out every two weeks.

Maybe after a couple years you offer him profit sharing...so when the business profits so will he.
