Hello. I want to say what's on my mind. Let me first say, I am a simple sole proprietor and I work hard. I literally am at the bottom of the pay scale. The reason I say that is because some people will only accept ideas from those in power and those who are wealthy or in politics. I want to talk with people who don't care about party lines and only want what is best for our country. Please don't criticize, rather focus on what can be positive. Here we go with a few of my thoughts.
Taxes - As we all know, taxes are imperative to our survival. But we have some how veered away from the basic foundation. We work hard to pay our taxes and what does it get spent on? I bet if we took a hard look at what is being spent in America with our tax dollars we would be appalled. I believe there are some taxes if removed, individuals would take it upon them selves to explore. What if our taxes got spent on the basic necessities of life? Food, housing, electricity, clean water, transportation, ect.. the basic needs of people to live. Imagine that. What would poverty look like then? Some would argue, what about those who use the system and refused to work? I would assume if given the opportunity to work and they would receive a place to live in a warm home, warm bath, food and a car. I don't think many would pass on that offer. How can anyone focus on anything else if we don't have these basic necessities. I would love our government to send me a list of where our tax dollars go every year. They don't even have to send it to any individual, rather to a message board where every one could review them. Possibly there already is.

Political parties - This is something I don't understand. I fount this test( iSideWith.com ). I took a long time to fill every question out. I was unable to answer every question, specifically on military question. I am ignorant to some things and lack the time to research. The reason I mention this website is after you take the test fully (yes this means to click the down arrow on every topic) you have the option to see where you stand as a party. I lie very much in the middle of all this mess. I would assume even the most democratic and republican would not truly be that party. This is also proof to me that the issues are more important then political stance.

This years debates - Wow, what have we become? The closes thing to our president can not even close there mouth to hear what the other has to say. If this is the best we have to offer the united states of America, we are in serious trouble. The 3 debates have all been the same banter and we seem to rely on one person to rule. Are we not Americans? There was not one mention that we are run by multiple people. America have proven to be extremely inventive from Einstein to you name the genious. Advancements are stagering and we sit here and listen to this? Toss these 2 out on the street and bring in 2 new ones please.

There you have it in a nutshell, Michael.
A large percentage of the population believe that it is unAmerican (socialist) to help the poor.

Taxes - As we all know, taxes are imperative to our survival.

Government schooling, and CFR controlled media; the best that money can buy.

One wonders how Native Americans survived with out taxes, or aboriginal Australians survived without taxes. One wonders how multiple other species survives without taxes.

When the Roman empire began, it had an effective tax rate of 2 to 3 percent, and that was only on city inhabitants or on the provinces of Italia. As it came closer and closer to the end, folks were voluntarily becoming indentured and enslaved, because only citizens were subject to over taxation.

Michael, go learn your history before you start posting.

Taxes Brought Down The Roman Empire, And They'll Do The Same To America
Taxes Brought Down The Roman Empire, And They'll Do The Same To America

. . . . "By the 4th century, the Roman economy and tax structure were so dismal that many farmers abandoned their lands in order to receive public entitlements.

At this point, the imperial government was spending the majority of the funds it collected on either the military or public entitlements. For a time, according to historian Joseph Tainter, “those who lived off the treasury were more numerous than those paying into it.”

Sound familiar?

In the 5th century, tax riots and all-out rebellion were commonplace in the countryside among the few farmers who remained. The Roman government routinely had to dispatch its legions to stamp out peasant tax revolts.

But this did not stop their taxes from rising.

Valentinian III, who remarked in 444 AD that new taxes on landowners and merchants would be catastrophic, still imposed an additional 4% sales tax… and further decreed that all transactions be conducted in the presence of a tax collector.

Under such a debilitating regime, both rich and poor wished dearly that the barbarian hordes would deliver them from the burden of Roman taxation.

Zosimus, a late 5th century writer, quipped that “as a result of this exaction of taxes, city and countryside were full of laments and complaints, and all… sought the help of the barbarians.”

Many Roman peasants even fought alongside their invaders, as was the case when Balkan miners defected to the Visigoths en masse in 378. Others simply vacated the Empire altogether.. . . "

Yes sir. I do like an open discussion. I will admit I am ignorant in many areas. I guess, I may be misunderstood. This was more hypothetical. As of now we pay, I don't know you tell me. 30% in taxes out of our pay checks not to mention 6% at the convenient stores. If we were to start again with the current taxes and re prioritize importance, we could do so much better. As I mentioned, I would love to see a record of tax payers spent money. I bet we could make some cuts. Please, I don't want to bicker and banter. I saw 3 debates of it. We both admit there is a problem. The best way is to get involved, and this is the first for me. Well on this large scale... In the old days when a tornado came threw, the town got together to help. Today we help by taxes. It should be used to help America.

Aww fer Fucks sake.....not another one of these nut jobs!!

One problem with our government - Democrats and Republicans - is a complete lack of accountability and oversight of the nation's purse strings. Whenever some new problem/issue arises the first thing we hear is it's going to take X millions/billions of dollars to fix it and the way to fund the fix is to either raise some existing tax or dream up a new one.

What we never hear though is let's look at the thousands of existing budget spending items and audit them to determine if they're actually accomplishing what they were meant to and, if so, further determine if they're doing it efficiently. With so many billions of dollars being spent here there and everywhere there is abundant opportunity for waste and outright fraud that should be weeded out and those monies redirected elsewhere before automatically hitting up the taxpayers yet again.

In other words we need more of a business approach to running the government rather than a bureaucratic one. In the private sector we don't have the luxury of tapping a seemingly bottomless pit of taxpayers' money to solve fiscal problems. If we need more money for something we have to find it ourselves and that means combing through budgets to find excesses, wastes, etc. and redirect the 'savings' to where it's needed.

It will take a businessman to get us on the right track. Career politicians think money grows on trees.

Thank you Blastoff. That's the kid of thinking most can agree on.

I have a different approach to business then most. It is funny because no mater how I say this some one will disagree. I am in the( what's right or wrong party). Hillary Clinton said " trumped up, trickle down effect." I am just talking about that sentence. So In big business you have the head of the company, down to the bottom.(paid in that order). To me this is not right. In my mind everyone who participates in running that business, should get there fair cut. I am a sole proprietor but most times, I sub out work to get the job finished quicker. It is a very simple equation for me. Quote minus Materials minus labor equals surplus or loss. surplus or loss is divided buy the participants labor. Yes there are so many more variables such as growth, savings, investments ect... What I see, is businesses not paying fairly and also taking the surplus. Now we have the minimum wage as a guide line on just how low you can pay your employees. Minimum wage = slavery in my mind. Take the minimum wage and times it by 40 hours a week don't forget to minus 30% taxes and let me know if you can budget you and your two kids alone. It is near impossible. It would take honest business owners to take this on themselves because this in not the governments job. Some one needs to invent a new business model that everyone benefits.

Iceweasle I bet we would agree more then not on most topics. A decent business man we may need for president. I think I paid more in taxes then trump. He also admitted in the debate he hired people to do a job and then didn't pay for it. That is disgraceful. I think that is more like a layer then a businessman.

You don't know what Trump payed in federal, state or local taxes. We aren't voting for a wallet though. I don't remember him saying he stiffed somebody. You do know there's two sides to a story? Not all customers are good, not all contractors are good.
