Never Let A Golden Opportunity Go To Waste

Karl Rove’s Republicans probably conceded Al Franken’s seat just as they threw in the sponge without a fight in so many other Senate races in the past. No matter. Franken is so bad he represents a golden opportunity for a Tea Party pickup:

It is almost unbelievable that Al Franken, a washed-up former comedian and reformed (I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt) coke-head with serious anger management issues, was elected to the Senate in 2008 from Minnesota, a state he hadn’t lived in for several decades. (“Elected” despite the fact that he almost certainly received fewer legal votes than Norm Coleman.) It is even more unbelievable that Franken stands an excellent chance of being re-elected next year, only because there is no strong Republican candidate on the horizon.

XXXXX

Franken sent out an email today to his supporters, announcing that he has initiated a MoveOn petition in support of a constitutional amendment to cut back on the First Amendment:

XXXXX

Don’t hold your breath waiting to see that constitutional amendment. It isn’t likely to be drafted, let alone passed. Which I find interesting. Here is a sitting United States Senator, running for re-election after six years of, presumably, serving the people of Minnesota, and this is his opening salvo? A petition on a fringe web site on behalf of a constitutional amendment that will never be seriously proposed, let alone enacted? Has he no accomplishments of which he can boast?

Well, no, he doesn’t. As a senator, Franken has been an embarrassment on the rare occasions when he has not been invisible.

I refuse to believe that the people in Minnesota want to give Franken a second term even if he is a favorite son. Any trustworthy Tea Party conservative —— even a carpetbagger —— should be able to knock off that clown.

Aside from tying Franken to HillaryCare II let’s revisit his past.

Al Gore is the only Democrat who ever failed to steal an election. Gore wanted a recount in selected Florida counties, or should I say he wanted recounts, and recounts, and recounts, until he got the result he was looking for? His stickup attempt was so inept the US Supreme Court finally halted a theft in progress. Al Franken is a clown, but he was smarter than Gore; Franken pulled off his burglary in broad daylight and got away with it.

Before entering politics Franken was a nasty piece of work. Proof: His sick joke about raping Lesley Stahl when he was writing for SNL. Naturally, he gravitated to a political party that claims to represent women. Possibly Franken confused Democrat women with decent women when he said this:

As New York magazine reported in 1995, from a writing session that the reporter sat in on:

Franken: “And, ‘I give the pills to Lesley Stahl. Then, when Lesley’s passed out, I take her to the closet and rape her.’ Or, ‘That’s why you never see Lesley until February.’ Or, ‘When she passes out, I put her in various positions and take pictures of her.’”

Incidentally, did you ever wonder how many of our lady senators ———Baldwin, Boxer, Cantwell, Feinstein, Gillibrand, Hagen, Hirono, Heitkamp, Klobuchar, Landrieu, McCaskill, Mikulski, Murray, Shaheen, Stabenow, and Warren —— embrace Franken’s sick humor. It’s one thing to stick together in pursuit of the party’s legitimate agenda, but working with a scum bag like Franken indicates they agree with him; if not agree they never objected. Imagine their outrage had a conservative told a rape joke. Remember Senator McCaskill’s outrage over Todd Akin’s poorly-worded comment about rape. It wasn’t even a joke and she went bananas. Yet McCaskill and the others never had a problem embracing Franken.

Calling for the executions of Karl Rove and Scooter Libby over the Valery Plame affair was another one of his gems. That one identified him as one meanspirited liberal.

ACORN

I knew that Franken was going to win the minute the election result was contested. Democrats always win when the margin of a Republican victory is close enough to challenge; Al Gore being the exception. Democrats use the recount the same way bandits use a gun. ACORN was a member of Franken’s gang. I knew that ACORN works for Democrats, but I never associated ACORN larceny with Minnesota. This one paragraph pinpoints Franken’s illegitimacy:

EVEN the Democrats in Minnesota now realize their new US Sen. Al Franken was elected with the help of ACORN chicanery. The disgraced, pimp-friendly community organizing group claims it registered 43,000 new Minnesota voters. If just 1 percent were fraudulent but survived the recount process, that's 430 votes, almost all cast for Franken, who won by just 312 votes. Asks Katherine Kersten in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, "Did ACORN folks pull some fast ones to help get their favorite son Franken elected -- a win that handed Democrats the 60-vote, veto-proof majority that they needed to enact their liberal agenda?"

Assuming Franken was not part of the fraud no one expected him to do the honorable thing and resign if the evidence showed that ACORN rigged the vote? Franken is a slimy little Democrat who thinks he is entitled to be a US Senator no matter how he got there. Like all scummy Democrats, Franken demands fair play from everyone except himself.

Minnesota’s population is less than five million. That’s what threw me back in 2008. I used to think that ACORN concentrated their election efforts in large cities. By rigging elections in a large city like Chicago, ACORN almost guarantees that that state’s US Senate seat will go to their candidate. (Both seats in many states.)

There is no doubt that ACORN succeeded in rigging federal elections in states like Minnesota as well as local elections in large cities. God only knows how many Democrat hold congressional offices thanks to ACORN shenanigans.

Not only did ACORN work for Al Franken’s victory in 2008, as far back as 2004 ACORN got some funding from Minnesota’s taxpayers with the help of state officials. The method used is a bit complicated, and absolutely fascinating if you enjoy reading about devious doings done by Democrats:

The lesson for the midterms should be: WATCH OUT FOR ACORN under its new names.

Finally, stealing senate seats does make sense from ACORN’s perspective. Every US Senator is equal. They get the job for six years. And it’s definitely less work, and less expensive, to rig senate elections in states with low populations.

No matter how many Democrat seats are in harm’s way in this year’s midterms, conservatives seizing opportunities might be wishful thinking on my part. Jeffrey Lord’s brilliant analysis lays out why:

Karl Rove (i.e., architect of the American Crossroads SuperPAC), the Chamber of Commerce, and the Washington GOP Establishment have declared war on the Reaganite conservative base of the Republican Party.

Convincing conservatives they should vote for the ticket in order to beat the Democrat stopped working in 2008; so Rove opened his war with a frontal assault —— tell conservatives to piss off.

Rove’s strategy is the same as it was in 2008 and 2012. Con conservatives into voting for the ticket while establishment Republicans refuse to reciprocate when the candidate is a true conservative:

Unless there is a deliberate, willful attempt to sabotage the GOP from within. Using the GOP Establishment as a launching pad to ensure that Reagan-style conservatives — the base of the Republican Party — are defeated by Establishment, statist Republicans. Republicans who will in turn so anger the GOP base that the base simply refuses to turn out in November. Thus handing President Obama and the statist forces of Big Government a victory they should never have had and in fact would be unable to earn on their own.

Or? Worse?

The GOP Establishment wins under the ruse of being… honest, they promise, cross-their-hearts-and-hope-to-die… conservative. And then they do the inevitable… the usual… GOP version of the Socialist Deal. Being “realistic”… seeking (Margaret Thatcher’s hated word) “consensus.”
