But the fact that they failed to bring Ladin's body back to America, dead or alive, to display to the people, was a huge mistake. No one can really verify his demise.

Traditionally, the corpses of arch criminals have been displayed, at least the heads, to serve as a warning to the people not to repeat the mistakes made. Someone's head displayed on London Bridge let the people know he was dead, much like the display of Ned Stark's head by King Joffrey the Great in King's Landing.

They do their own testing, and there is a reason they rejected anyone with heel spurs as well as other ailments gong back to WWII. After the draft was instituted in 1940, not all of the young men who registered were accepted into the service. Thirty percent of registrants across America were rejected for physical defects. The 4-F classification was given primarily for muscular and bone malformations, hearing or circulatory ailments, mental deficiency or disease, hernias, and syphilis. There were ramifications when a man got that classification.
