LOL, you seem unaware that it is not being used for serious research as it doesn't deliver anything useful anymore and you didn't make your case for it to keep it going.

NASA has always been more interested in advancing technology than providing useful results, but Saving The Earth helps generate government funding, so that helps sell missions. I remember the AIRS Team scientists complaining to me that OCO wasn’t going to do any more that what AIRS could do, which is why the CO2 map you show looks suspiciously like the AIRS maps from 20+ years ago.

Better off to launch more Aqua based satellites to replace the aging drifting satellites that no longer provide accurate data as they require drift correction calculations that have become tedious which is why the UAH team dropped a couple of them.
