Could you imagine still using a phone or laptop from 2014?
OCO-2 nominal operational mission duration was to be 2 years. We got lucky that it lasted for 11. But don't fool yourself into thinking it's still as effective now as it was then.Expensive satellites ($B?) are only good for 10 years? This must be a GOVT dream! Spend baby spend.
So what?
Mid to late Fall in the Northern Hemisphere is always a low point in atmospheric CO2 ... if you had posted the other image from late Spring, you'd see the readings from the annual peak CO2 ... but that would ruin the point you're making ... can't let facts interfere with the message now can we? ...
Most land in in the Northern Hemisphere, and land plants either die off or go dormant in winter ... so when this picture was taken, these land plants had scrubbed the atmosphere ... whereas in late Spring, CO2 from decay is peaking ... thus the wiggly Keeling Curve trace is due to seasonal variation ...
OCO-2 failed to produce evidence of AGW ... I hate cutting research, but if something has to go, this seems better than cutting Doppler Radar ...
All the satellites that could be affected do is supposedly measure CO2 in the atmosphere over large populated areas and the value (and accuracy) of that is highly questionable. And the ramifications of that so-called data as it is interpreted by AGW religionists is highly speculative and also questionable. The Trump administration has ordered climate recording satellites shut down. Fortunately, there are other nations with sane leaders that have satellites we can get data from. Just more of the Trump admin trying to kill evidence concerning their lies about climate.

Trump plans to shut down climate satellites
The termination of the OCO-2 and OCO-3 missions due to Trump's budget cuts will mean the loss of a source of data on climate and the state of the planet.universemagazine.com

Satellites designed for the green energy scam. People hired that follow their dictums and fall in line. We need to reinforce infrastructure. And build new infrastructure along with it. Instead we make pariahs rich. These satellites really aren't producing any information of any use, except maybe to confirm the Keeling Curve ... I think maybe they aren't telling us what we want to know, so we should probably ditch them ... or sell them to a state agency, California could certainly afford operating them ... almost all the cost is getting the satellite into orbit, the rest is profit ...
GOES weather satellites operate at the same wavelengths ... which I thought was odd ... Band 5 and Band 6 are stated as measures of ice/snow and cloud particles ... not CO2 detection ... smells like a hoax to me but who am I to judge ... [giggle] ... right? ...
Global, historical embarrassment. The Trump administration has ordered climate recording satellites shut down. Fortunately, there are other nations with sane leaders that have satellites we can get data from. Just more of the Trump admin trying to kill evidence concerning their lies about climate.

Satellite data doesnt show that, liar. It's crazy! I know, especially when the satellite data conclusively shows that mankind has no impact on global CO2. The high output is exclusively from equatorial rain forests

So what? Goddamn, do you know NOTHING about any of this?I was lead to believe that American industry was emitting high per capita, Ice cap melting CO2, does that stop in early fall?
In any event NONE of the readings show that mankind actively out gasses the equatorial rain forests for CO2
That's just stupid. We spent billion to put them up there and now he's just gonna turn them off?The Trump administration has ordered climate recording satellites shut down. Yes, because he is a petty, failed human. And he perceives this as a way to stick a thumb in the eyes of his enemies, which means, his betters. That's just stupid. We spent billion to put them up there and now he's just gonna turn them off?
And most of the are at least dual purpose for forecasting if not multipurpose for other things.
So what? Goddamn, do you know NOTHING about any of this?
The problem is the EXTRA CO2 being added to the climate cycle. CO2 that was fixed, in the ground.
Did you get your climate knowledge from right wing blogs and late night AM radio programs?Did you look at the OCO2 readings?
That's just stupid. We spent billion to put them up there and now he's just gonna turn them off?

True it costed $15 million to send it up, but it is was unnecessary and redundant as the superior AIRS was already up there for years riding on the Aqua Satellite.
From NASA,
Mission & Instrument
The AIRS instrument has provided the most significant increase in forecast improvement in this time range of any other single instrument.
Navy Vice-Admiral (ret.) and former NOAA Administrator Conrad C. Lautenbacher
Launched into orbit on May 4, 2002 aboard NASA's Aqua satellite, the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder, or AIRS, is enhancing our understanding of Earth's weather and climate. AIRS is one of six instruments aboard NASA's Aqua satellite, which in turn is part of a constellation of satellites that make up NASA's Earth Observing System. AIRS along with its partner microwave instrument the Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit (AMSU-A), represents the most advanced atmospheric sounding system ever deployed in space. Together these instruments observe the global water and energy cycles, climate variation and trends, and the response of the climate system to increased greenhouse gases.
AIRS uses cutting edge infrared technology to create three-dimensional maps of air and surface temperature, water vapor, and cloud properties. With 2378 spectral channels, AIRS has a spectral resolution more than 100 times greater than previous infrared sounders and provides more accurate information on the vertical profiles of atmospheric temperature and moisture. AIRS can also measure trace greenhouse gases such as ozone, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and methane.

It is, thats why the United States picked it up.Thank you for looking up the price tag for OSO-2 ... like I said, any State could pick this up if it was important enough ....
