I thought the reason for the election was so that the American People could show who they want and who they find acceptable?

It is quite rehtorical to say that Nancy Pelosi wants a Democratic President to go with her Democratic Congress. It's not she can't have accept a second term. She won't. And she will go all out and make sure that Trump doesn't get that far. But she also knows, that "Doomsday Clock" is ticking and she has to act fast.
