In principle I totally agree with what the purpose should be. Unfortunately anyone that's spent any time in a courtroom knows that it is the last place you will find unadulterated truth and that's civil court, not this political stage.

In practice this has been a partisan expedition from the outset and will continue to be so. Had the dems not been banging the drum for impeachment from the day Trump took office I might take them seriously. As it sits, they looked for something, found it, weaponized the Impeachment Process to suit their political purpose, which I think is a horrible and dangerous precedent, and now expect the Pubs to step aside and take some moral high ground, which will allow the Dems to stage Act 2 of their show. That isn't going to happen.

This is a political power struggle and nothing more, with both sides pushing for whatever they can get within the law to advance their interests. The truth has nothing to do with it.

The Senate makes the rules and despite all the wailing and teeth-gnashing from the left, everyone knows McConnell is every bit as savvy as Pelosi and does not have to give an inch - so he won't.

the WB complaint was simply an anonymous tip of alleged wrong doing, and nothing to do with the actual alleged crimes committed that Trump needs to just plead guilty to, or provided relevant witnesses to his charges, that can shed light to the accusations of high crimes, in defense of Trump...

It is by no means certain the trial will come, the world much less this country revolves not around Nancy nor the democrats, but there probably will be, sooner or later, closure of some kind. As to the legitimacy, I can't think of another impeachment or congressional hearing nor grand jury ever which was ever held up on the concern by a party on pure partisan grounds of whether an entire branch of the federal government was "legitimate" or not. And after the circus sham rammed down our throats by Schiff and Nadler, whomever it is up to to decide that question WON'T be Nancy Pelosi. The one thing that IS certain in all of this is that there will be HUGE legal and political consequences eventually for the Democrats for all of this. You can bank on that.
