Are you serious? Bill Clinton and the Democrats rush through a deficit budget in early1993 in order to claim credit for Bush's 4th Quarter economic recovery. The voters saw through this and elected a Republican Congress the next year. Clinton went along with the Republican budget in order to separate himself from the disastrous Democrat budget ("triangulation"). The only credit he deserves is for saving his own skin at the expanse of others.

So, it seems, not only did President Clinton run a surplus, but he reduced the national debt!
