Name calling is killing honest political debate.

It’s not name-calling if the shoe fits. Accusations of fascism and communism are often analysis. Especially when directed toward democrats.
The thread title is a joke. You can't have honest debate with Democrats or honest anything else. That party does nothing but LIE, they are dishonest to their core. It's becoming difficult to find words low enough to describe those wormy rats.

I just put the scumbag on ignore so I won't be bothered by its obvious trolling for the DNC.

See ya!

I agree. These labels are just a bunch of nonsense, and many people on this board say various types of insults. I just find it all childish and silly, and its not a mature way to behave.
It also discourages some of us members from participating in anything other than benign topics. But----whadaya goin' do. Free speech and all. Have to admit, some of them can be quite funny while others are just plain ole hurtful to a gentle and civil soul such as myself. I behave here the same way I do in real life. It's just my nature and I am not into betraying myself. 🪷

I’d encourage you to engage with a sense of irreverence toward whatever labels others might try to stick on you. Don’t let their words define or limit your voice.

The constant labeling of political opponents as fascists, communists/Marxists, or simply resorting to name calling is lazy and destructive. In today’s debates, these terms are used as blunt weapons to shut down meaningful conversation. This kind of name-calling doesn’t clarify anything; it doesn’t help us understand each other or solve real problems. Instead, it creates division, fuels tribalism, and reduces complex ideas to childish insults. Most people don’t fit these extreme labels, yet we act as if they do because it’s easier than doing the hard work of honest dialogue. Maybe it’s time to stop the nonsense and start talking openly about ideas, not just throw around labels that don’t belong.
I interesting your example labels are only for leftwingers. Rather telling.

Excuse me?

Please elaborate on what insight you've gained from my perceived bias.

Please! I do not indulge in unsolicited advice. No one has ever "defined" me--lol. I don't need fixing. I am the solution to my problems....none other.

It US Messageboard.com. Its where the tribals come to tribalize.

Sad but true, apparently.

I did a thread on tribalism last year....a thread I occasionally want to bump, after reading threads here.

What I would like to know (and this goes for both sides) is.... why would anyone who truly believes that the other side is evil scum, completely hopeless with "nothing to say that I want to hear".... bother posting here at all? Or at least why bother posting on debate threads?

Is it just to vent? Or maybe to try to reach moderates or independents? I'm genuinely curious.

Pretty much. I won’t reply to messages that are too much into the name calling and random insults. There is no use in engaging in that kind of behavior.

I enjoy debating without overt name calling and emotional responses. I try to support and take down arguments with links. I do love me some passive underhanded jabs like a fat kid loves cake.

I do not think the debate is just a two-sided equation. I am not a huge Trump fan but voted for him three times. He is the enemy of my enemy.

I could help Trump with messaging. IM me here if your watching.

This place can also raise my blood pressure.

Good thing Trump never name-calls and he works so hard to elevate the political discourse of the nation
