It also discourages some of us members from participating in anything other than benign topics. But----whadaya goin' do. Free speech and all. Have to admit, some of them can be quite funny while others are just plain ole hurtful to a gentle and civil soul such as myself. I behave here the same way I do in real life. I did a thread on tribalism last year....a thread I occasionally want to bump, after reading threads here.

What I would like to know (and this goes for both sides) is.... why would anyone who truly believes that the other side is evil scum, completely hopeless with "nothing to say that I want to hear".... bother posting here at all? Or at least why bother posting on debate threads?

I enjoy debating without overt name calling and emotional responses. I try to support and take down arguments with links. I do love me some passive underhanded jabs like a fat kid loves cake.

I do not think the debate is just a two-sided equation. I am not a huge Trump fan but voted for him three times. He is the enemy of my enemy.
