The Treasury Department will make an ally of billionaire Elon Musk’s U.S. DOGE Service the head of the department that oversees the nation’s powerful payment systems after ousting the career civil servant who previously held the post, according to two people with knowledge of the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to reflect private deliberations.

Tom Krause, a Silicon Valley executive with ties to DOGE, will become the financial assistant secretary of the Treasury Department, the people said. He replaces David A. Lebryk, who resigned after clashing with Krause over demands to stop payments on foreign aid — a measure Lebryk resisted as illegal.

Krause’s position will give him control over the Treasury Department system responsible for disbursing more than $5 trillion in annual payments, including for Social Security, Medicare, tax refunds and thousands of other measures. Musk has demanded on social media that Treasury unilaterally stop sending these payments, accusing the department’s career staff of breaking the law.

US AID is not a federal agency, and we have every damn right as tax payers to know where our money is going. If you were any kind of a decent human being, you would want the same accountability and transparency, but all you give a damn about is your pathetic political party.

One, it isn’t a gravy train. It’s work. But leave that aside.

They are working in an environment that is completey upended, no idea if they’ll have job the next day, an employer who is capricious, follows no rules, despises them, attacks them, makes false accusations and exposes them to “mob justice”. Who would stay? Well, if you are close to retirement, and many of those who took the buyout are, then it’s an easy decision. If you work in a field that is highly marketable, you might just say fuck this and leave. If you are a scientist, and you are going to be forced to promote political ideology in lieu science, then that might be enough reason as well. A lot though, were close to retirement and they could afford to take the risk of accepting a very risky offer that might not pay.

Do you think TrumpMusk will honor the offer and if they can’t because it is illegal and Musk, who knows nothing about how the government works or what is legal or not nor cares didn’t look into it first…what then?
