MTG - "Yes, They Can Control the Weather"

Since 1851, a total of 14 hurricanes have formed in the Gulf of Mexico that moved to the east and into Florida. - James Spann

It isn’t the full on crazies like Mudwhislte who bother me so much as the posters who realize the theory is batshit, so instead post stupid stuff like “well the government experimented with seeding clouds to make rain”

They know full well that jumping from that to “weaponized hurricanes” is crazy, but it’s like they want to pretend otherwise
I watched a lot of interviews with Qanon nuts and flat earthers (both fully represented here), and it's fascinating. On one hand, you can see that they realize what they're saying is nutty, but they still believe it. I don't know how they intellectually psychologically reconcile that weird dichotomy, but they manage to.

What fascinates me is how they automatically disbelieve anything they are told by the government, but they have no problem accepting the most sensational and outlandish conspiracy from an anonymous source on social media

They fancy themselves “freethinkers”

They also tend to be from undereducated segments of the population and seem to have chips on their shoulders against actual specialists in subjects who have actual higher education

Imagining themselves to be smarter than the actual experts is pathetic sort of ego boost, I suppose

Yeah, that's at the heart of this.

I think this began with Limbaugh, all of the kneejerk mistrust of our institutions, and exploded with all his copycats.

Weak. You'd think with 222,000 posts, one would be better at clever retorts. Nice try though. :itsok:
So you’re one of the ones who believes the hurricanes are “weapons”?

Good to know

15th post
How many Trumpsters here think that the Dems are specifically weaponizing the weather to influence the election?

That's what's being danced around here, isn't it?

:dunno:

Nm with you.

You are aware there's a rational medium between the 2, no?

So you're another one who puts words in people's mouths. Noted. Stick with bodybuilding, meathead.

Yes, and they finally belong to something.

Watching the interviews done at Trump rallies (usually for comedic purposes), they deliver these otherworldly bizarre "facts" with this odd, patronizing, condescending "well, I know something you don't know" smile on their faces. Clearly this cult has made them feel more intelligent and informed than they have in the past.

These are people who used to complain (and sometimes understandably) that lefties would look down on them and think they were stupid. So NOW what do they do? They come here and tell everyone who disagrees with them on anything that THEY are stupid. This has made them what they hate. I guess they don't see it.
