According to CNN and other sources, NYC tops the list for most expensive city in the world, tied with Singapore, so I'm not sure how Hawaii beats it for most expensive in the US. The rising cost of eating out in nyc has exploded in the last 2-3 years, along with rising crime. LA and SF were 4th and 8th.
