moscow has lost some 300 aircraft in Ukraine at a "significantly" higher rate than it can replace, the MoD said.

Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Army, last week said Moscow had lost 278 aircraft in the war - more than twice the 119 it did in the Soviet-Afghan War.

It is not only planes that are shot down but that they are unable to maintain their aircraft and keep them flyable

They are having to salvage to get spare parts
