People can sure be petty. Here's a guy that performs well, but just because
he once played against Israel, he can't play on his home country's national team. Where is the coach's sportsmanship?

Adnane Bennis is a national of Morocco, obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer and Information Science from East west University in Chicago. He also holds an associate Degree in English literature from the University of Fez.

Fez- The news has been shared by many Moroccans since it was first published by Moroccan news portal Hespress. Zouhair Benouahi, a Moroccan player who plays in Azerbaijan’s football league, said he was deprived of playing with the national team of football (soccer), because he once played against an Israeli team.
The news might sound unbelievable, but this is what, Rachid Taoussi, the coach of Morocco’s national team allegedly told the player: “a player who plays in Israel can’t even dream of playing with the national team as long as I am the coach.”

What a shame they had tried to have good relations
Morocco

Morocco/Israel

In 1986, King Hassan II invited then Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres for talks, becoming the second Arab leader to host an Israeli leader. Following the September 1993 signing of the Israeli-Palestinian Declaration of Principles, Morocco accelerated its economic ties and political contacts with Israel. In September 1994, Morocco and Israel announced the opening of bilateral liaison offices.[citation needed] When the king died in 1999, then-prime minister Ehud Barak and the Moroccan-born foreign minister David Levy flew to Rabat for his funeral.[69] The foreign offices were closed in 2000 following sustained Israeli-Palestinian violence.

It's a shame that the new King can't intervene. Didn't the old King say he missed "his Jews?" Actually there are still some Jews living in Morocco. However, the Christians don't seem to be doing so good in Morocco. Why is that, Joey?

The point is that ICC is not run by a 'Jew'.

And the thread topic is the beyond-petty vindictive and vile attitude of the team's coach. What's so ironic is, the player went up *against* the Israeli team.

This happens all the time with Muslim countries. Most of these athletes just want to compete, but have been forbidden to do so by the nutjobs in charge. As the consequences to disobey this order are very severe, they have no choice.

Wasn't there some Iranian soccer player with the last name of Eskandarian? I don't think the officials here chastised him for being Iranian and he was allowed to play.
