Morning Consult poll: Clinton 38%, Trump 35%

As happens most of the time, Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump in a national poll.
This is good news for Democrats and bad news for Republicans.
Expect the mainstream media to ignore this poll, until Morning Consult shows Trump ahead (maybe) again in the future, in which case the media will type up big, bold "dead-head" headlines because it is too boring when Clinton is ahead.

the gap is closing ... a wide margin for Clinton is now close to even.

reason being, Trump finally got rid of his RW competition, and Clinton is still dealing with Bern.

when it gets down to 1 on 1, and much closer to the fall of the year polls will mean something.

Bad news for the Trumpers, and here is why. Morning Consult leans right because of its methodology: landlines, calling the same folks, and online surveys.

That means the real numbers are probably 8 to 10 points better for HRC.
