Federal, state, county, local?
It seems to me that the higher up you get, the more corrupt you get. They are smarter, but that just means they are better at f*king you and still having you thank them for it. The lower you get, down to local, the less corrupt but more inept you get. Our local government is mostly people doing it for the measly paycheck, or to feed their ego (which has to be a pretty pathetic ego to be fed by our local government). Those who do have good intentions often are not smart enough to know what the hell they are doing.
It is frustrating, it sucks either way.
The one thing about state and local is it is much easier to keep tabs on them and hold them accountable. That is one of the reasons I would love to see the Federal government get smaller and leave more up to the state and local government. They especially should stay the hell out of the school systems.
