First of all nobody starves to death in the greatest Country in the world unless they choose so or they are victims of bizarre murder. Most kids today are obese to the point of morbidly obese so what's the problem? The problem is that (mostly) liberals love to pretend the U.S. is a 3rd world country and full of victims and they feel good about themselves when they buy into the "kids go to bed hungry" crap. They donate stuff they wouldn't eat themselves to food banks who give it out to people who wouldn't eat it either. If parents are so depraved that they spend welfare money on booze and drugs rather than food then they should be arrested for child abuse.
