Again we see the law of unintended consequenccs. Why are there no exceptions to this nonsense ? Why is it so important for little men to control every aspect of womens lives. ?

Maybe the dark underbelly of US life should be cleansed by sunlight ?
And dragged out of the dark ages.

they are nothing but fucking backwards hayseed hillbilly christofascists.

it wasn't until the late 70's when the act of raping your wife became illegal in all 50 states, but was still defined differently in the law books according to how much a knuckle dragging state wanted to evolve.

The original intent of the statute in Missouri, which originated in 1973, was “noble”, Ashley Aune, a Democratic representative, said, as it tried to ensure that a mother and her child were provided for by settling custody arrangements and child support after the child’s birth.

The intent was to prevent deadbeat dads from ducking out on their responsibilities for children they had parented.

Just because you have to stay married does not mean you have to stay with the abuser.🤪. The state legislature felt that legitimation was a strong public policy concern.

but you are legally tethered to a person you no longer should be.

by force.

but but but - a child born to an 'unmarried' female is somehow less legit? i thought that every 'child' from the moment of conception is so so so very precious.

just not the legit ones?

Every child is precious. Stop killing them in the womb

There is.

It's called the right to freedom of association.

Stuff like this is what happens when you give the State jurisdiction over your marriage (and consequently your household) by way of that whole marriage ''license'' thing.
