This is supposed to be the new 'internet sensation' recipe for a pot roast. Doing a search for the recipe comes up with gazillions of hits and after looking thru several of them, the most common ingredients are these........

3 to 5lb chuck roast
1 pkt dry ranch dressing mix
1 pkt dry Au Jus mix
4 or 5 pepperoncini peppers + 1/4 cup juice
1 stick of butter

Add it all to the crockpot and cook on high till the meat falls apart.

This makes it's own 'gravy' during cooking, but I did add about a cup of water to it cause I wanted plenty of the gravy for mashed potatoes. And it was a little thin, so I added a bit of cornstarch slurry at the end to thicken it up. It was sooooooo good and the peppers give it just a bit of a kick. YUM.

mystery juice you say?

is it pepper juice?

thanks for sharing the recipe

yes, juice from the peppers.

And the recipe does NOT call for the extra water, or the cornstarch slurry.......those were my own additions.

The meat could also be used as a sandwich and the juice in the pot used to dip it in. Like a French Dip. I can easily see putting it on a hoagie roll, add some raw onion, more pepperoncinis and some kind of cheese to melt, if you wanted.
