He was appointed by a Democratic governor and reappointed by one. That's a pretty strong connection. In any case his political party and affiliation are meaningless because once a person takes a life they are not a Democrat, they are not a Republican, they are not a Christian.... They become a murderer.

The picture they showed of him had to be 20 years old. I did see one photo of a man who looked to be in his late 50s with a little bit of gray in the hair and the beard. The other photo had to be quite some time ago.
