Houston homeowner shoots and kills two men in ski masks who turned up at home claiming to be cops

This Lt is being told what to say. Yeah...this has to be the most important description of the suspects.

“Right now, we don’t have ages on the suspects,” Lt. Khan said at the press conference. “They look to be younger, maybe at the most in their 30s.”

Nope....I don't let fear..especially of low probability events, into my life.

Likewise.

If it's not a trigger happy homicidal maniac with body armor, it's a speeding cement mixer with bad brakes running your red light....

When your number is up, .....
Thanks,

I note that no mention of the homeowner's weapon was made.
I wonder if he unloaded an AK or something similar 🤔 on the dudes~
He killed them right through their BP vests...
Lesson: Don't buy BP vests from Temu.

Geezus.... They were wearing bulletproof vests and they got offed anyway? What the hell was homeowner using for ammo? 🙂
It pretty much depends on the level of the body armor, and of course there are armor piercing ammunitions, even down to at least 9mm. So, at the least, for home defense using a pistol, it might be prudent to have armor piercing, mixed inside the magazine, if concerned, you might be attacked by men wearing body armor. In this case, being discussed, I have no idea, of the level of body armor, or the type ammo used. I am not that concerned in my home, so there is no mix in the magazine, and yes, if confronted with some guy, obviously wearing body armor, I would go for the headshot, pleased that last year, during one of my range practice sessions, I could still put 13 out of 15 on the 8.5 by 11 target grids, I print on my computer, out to 50 meters. Though, I do not practice out to that distance regularly, I do it on occasion, not for sight picture and aiming point (which remain relatively the same) but for speed of re-acquisition, back to aiming point on subsequent trigger pulls. While that was not the range in the Houston situation, it is notable that standard 9mm will easily penetrate commercial level 2 rated body armor in close combat.

There are a lot of clowns running around claiming to be First Amendment Auditors, eisguised in ski masks and refusing to identify themselves,

They’re trying to get acrise out of people they “audit”, so they can post it on YouTube to trigger people and build hits online,

They are deliberately attempting to intimidate, mimicking ICE behavior.

Now that you know he didn't kill actual cops, you're not so supportive anymore.
Scratches head.
I wonder what it is you see in that statement that is non-supportive?
Oh and **** you..if you think for a minute that I like cops being killed..asshole~

Thanks for introducing this incident.

I suspect that this sort of thing happens more frequently than commonly reported.

This sort of crime is especially devious because the victim is at a greater disadvantage than if the criminal were wearing civilian clothes.

When pulled over by an LEO, it is not one's first instinct to reach for a firearm.

Because of the frequency and serious nature of this sort of crime, I thin that late night raids by undercover LEOs should be prohibited.

I can think of few better ways to pull off a home invasion than to yell "Police!" while kicking in someone's front door.

Additionally, since more and more criminals are wearing body armor, I don't feel that it is unreasonable to keep either or both a shotgun or .44 Magnum nearby for criminals who wear body armor.

Finally, since I live in a rural area in which deer are frequently hit and seriously injured by vehicles, I tend to favor larger caliber handguns to better end the misery of a severely injured animal ( .45 acp, .44 Magnum, .44 Spl etc)

Your thoughts?
.22 LR is all you need for deer.

.22 LR is all you need for deer.

A .22 LR round may be effective if precisely placed but that is highly unlikely for a wounded animal thrashing around in pain.

Since I strongly prefer the most humane method of euthanizing a large, moving animal with the least amount of pain, I'll stick the larger calibers.

After all, a single .45 acp round is not that expensive so why torture an unfortunate creature with multiple .22 LR rounds?

Not in TEXAS.
Not in South Carolina either :) It's the same if you were home alone and some dude was smashing your window in to get inside. You don't even have to warn the guy you are going to shoot, you just shoot :)

I have dispatched several wounded deer, from gunshot wounds to vehicle injuries. None were 'thrashing around'. Recall that the deer poacher's favorite caliber is the .22LR.
