Houston homeowner shoots and kills two men in ski masks who turned up at home claiming to be cops

Well..here's a guy who was smart enough to see through this deception..and thus probably saving his wife and child from harm.

I did find some amusement in the statement, "real cops don't wear ski masks'.
I wonder how that went down in Homeland Security circles?

Anyway, one for the good guys~

A late-night knock at the door turned deadly in Houston, Texas on Friday after gunfire broke out between a homeowner and two men in ski masks claiming to be cops.

Both men were killed in the shooting that happened around 11 p.m. in the southeast of the city, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said the men told the homeowner they were serving a warrant. They were wearing bullet-proof vests, had badges around their necks and were wearing ski masks.

Lt. Amber Khan told KHOU that the homeowner “became suspicious, because, you know, they have a ring camera too, and the suspects were saying they had a warrant.”

“But it was just two people and they’re masked up and no police cars, no lights or anything like that,” she added.
The masked suspects then shot a barrage of bullets through the door, prompting the homeowner to return fire. Lt. Khan said the two men were pronounced dead at the scene, despite officers' CPR attempts.

The homeowner was not injured. His wife and child were also inside the home during the incident, but police say they were rattled.

Detective Kyle Stringer urged residents to know the signs of legitimate police presence.

He explained that real police officers do not wear ski masks.

Really mad you can’t dox ICE agents, aren’t you?

It's unfortunate that the left have created a situation that cause officers, such as ICE, to need to cover their faces.
"the left"?

You gotta stop smokin' that orange crack. It's rotting your brain.

Thanks for introducing this incident.

I suspect that this sort of thing happens more frequently than commonly reported.

This sort of crime is especially devious because the victim is at a greater disadvantage than if the criminal were wearing civilian clothes.

When pulled over by an LEO, it is not one's first instinct to reach for a firearm.

Because of the frequency and serious nature of this sort of crime, I thin that late night raids by undercover LEOs should be prohibited.

I can think of few better ways to pull off a home invasion than to yell "Police!" while kicking in someone's front door.

Additionally, since more and more criminals are wearing body armor, I don't feel that it is unreasonable to keep either or both a shotgun or .44 Magnum nearby for criminals who wear body armor.

Finally, since I live in a rural area in which deer are frequently hit and seriously injured by vehicles, I tend to favor larger caliber handguns to better end the misery of a severely injured animal ( .45 acp, .44 Magnum, .44 Spl etc)

Your thoughts?

44 Magnum on the LOW end of the power curve here. 454 Casull, 460 S&W, .50 Action Express, .480 Ruger, .500 S&W for a handgun. Preferably, a centerfire rifle, of a 12-gauge.

.22 LR is all you need for deer.

As I recall, there are NO states where hunting deer with a .22 is legal.

I'm referring to poachers and those putting an injured deer down.

Since I began teaching others how to shoot safely for over 60 years ago and had to become proficient with various military firearms chambered in calibers from .22 LR to the .50 cal. BMG (M2 aka: "Ma Deuce"), I'm intimately familiar with the more powerful handgun calibers that have evolved since the introduction of the .44 Magnum.

I'm certain that you, too, must recall revolvers even made in .45-70 caliber.

Because a friend of mine bought one years ago, I was not surprised that its "holster" was in a custom fitted backpack configuration.
Because this same friend was significantly smaller than I am, I was also not surprised when he sold it after firing only 3 rounds from the beast.

I only mentioned the .44 Magnum caliber as an option when either confronted by wounded deer in pain or murderous criminals wearing body armor because ammunition for it is far more available and somewhat less expensive.

It is only my one opinion that if your target, human or animal, requires a more significantly powerful round than .44 Magnum, it's time to look toward either a shotgun or a rifle, short barreled or otherwise.

Even though I have enjoyed shooting handguns chambered in calibers more powerful than .44 Magnum with little difficulty, it's probably because I am a 250 lb. blacksmith who has spent over 25 years swinging hammers of various weights next to a 2,700 degree fire.
That's why I wouldn't recommend handguns in those larger calibers to most women or smaller men.

Thanks and enjoy our 2nd Amendment..
