.....plain and simple --NONE of the cop incidents are caused because the criminal is a certain skin color---you can't prove it and it isn't
There is a history of if since this country was founded, genius.
There is also a history of buggy whips, sailing ships, and kids playing with barrel hoops... but, you'd really have to look hard to see any of those nowadays as well.
Well police brutality is not a thing of the past, if it was this idiot wouldn't be on trial.
No doubt that many things police are required to do by law appear brutal while watching them on YouTube. However...
Traditionally, police brutality refers to targeted acts of aggression that are deliberately cruel and unnecessary to effect an arrest. Beatings of a prostrate or unresponsive prisoner would be an example. Using chemical spray on a handcuffed prisoner would be another and these things do happen.
However, holding a prisoner to the ground, particularly one who aggressively resists, while appearing to be brutal, isn't police brutality. It is necessary for the safety of both the officer and the prisoner. A resisting prisoner, even one who is handcuffed, can still be a danger to himself and others. Particularly when that prisoner is drug or alcohol affected and not considering the consequences of his actions.
I'm not a coroner, and I wasn't on the scene. All the evidence will be presented in court and a jury will have to make a decision. My opinion holds no weight in these proceedings. However, coroners have testified that Floyd didn't die of asphyxiation from being held down or from trauma incurred while being restrained. Coroners did testify that massive amounts of illicit drugs in his system and a history of heart trouble were contributing factors to his death.
