Although you would NEVER know it from reading the NYT, China is basically still a striving, autocratic, "developing" nation, slowly strangling itself with an unprecedented demographic collapse. If it were not for stealing tech from others - mainly the U.S. - it would still be Third World.

Seriously, VDH's article is worth a read, even if it exceeds the 750 word capacity of our collective attention span.

If the Chinese get mad enough they can destroy our economy by playing with the trillions in treasury bonds that they hold.

Careful who you piss off.

The Chinese used undervalued currency to skyrocket to the world's largest economy.
 
China would be a backwater, 3rd world country were it not for American greed. We sold ourselves out.
