Whew! This Milley brouhaha has turned into a food-fight of partisan silliness. IMHO.
I scan/read this long thread. And I gotta admit the histrionics are fairly amusing....too many empty calories though.
Here, lemme give you some examples. Like a Country Buffet....I picked only what interested me. You too?

Why is it 'unauthorize' for our leaders to talk to their counterparts in other countries? Some here are calling China our enemy, our adversary, a hostile nation; however, China, in 2020, was our largest trading partner.
$435 billion in imports from them; $177 billion in exports to them.
And some here say that our leaders must not talk to each other when issues arise that are worrisome?
As has been reported: American intelligence had picked up signals that some within China, the military in particular, were anxious over Don Trump's threats against them, that China needs to be made to pay for being the origin of Covid.....the "China Flu".
Couple that with two other realities:
1. The widespread reportage in domestic and international media that Don Trump was unstable;
2. but most importantly, and perceptive poster Lysistrata referenced it already --- to wit......."instigate a worldwide conflagration."
Get that? Nuclear war a risk? Or just a bad few days of conventional bombs dropping? Many live people ..... quit being 'live'?
So, with those stakes it is proper and fitting that the adults-in-the-room speak to each other and to calm down any fears, any anxieties......arising on either side.......... rightly, or wrongly.
And then, to contextualize this high level communication between edgy nations.....the so called 'treason' some hysterical posters screech bout...... poster Care4all provides nuance that, if true, should re-assure any of us non-principle 'adults-in-the-room'.
To wit:

OK, the above was the healthiest part of the Country Buffet that I saw.
However, there were some bitter-looking over-cooked dishes on the warming table too.
Let's stick a fork in 'em:

But let's conclude our visit to the Country Buffet with this healthful, nourishing and insightful dish from alert poster 'Bobob'.
Thank you, Bobob. A thumbs up .........and a hat-tip. Bon Appetit!
