Mike Johnson is right. The president has blanket pardon power given to him by the constitution. Their opinions of who he pardons are irrelevant.

They are relevant if those opinions differ from Trump's, this is a democracy and fear of speaking out against a tyrant means that the public, the people who voted for these republican senators and representatives, are being short changed.

The entire republican party has become scared of Trump, they are spinless weaklings and it's clear already that democracy here is starting to mutate into a dictatorship.

Some republicans should - at least privately - make their disgust at freeing cop killers, known to Trump and make it clear that the many confirmation hearings and votes are not yet complete. Refusing to vote for Hegseth is what some of these people would do, if they had a backbone, that would send a message to Trump.

We don't live in a dictatorship yet and no elected republican should allow Trump to act like one.
