Conservatives think the government should mind its own business until they want it to dictate what people can and can't do in their own bedrooms.

The Michigan Senate has doubled down on its unconstitutional ban on anal sex by passing a new bill that updates the wording of the ban. Despite the Supreme Court rendering anti-sodomy laws unconstitutional in 2003, Michigan is one of more than a dozen states that still has a sodomy ban on the books. It also has one of the worst – not only does it ban anal and oral sex for gay couples, it also bans the acts between straight partners, and even equates them to bestiality.

A new package of bills designed to keep pets out of the hands of animal abusers includes an update to the text of the ban, but leaves the restriction on consensual sex between humans intact. Republican Senator Rick Jones’ SB 219 updates the ban to read: “A person who commits the abominable and detestable crime against nature either with mankind or with any animal is guilty of a felony.” It’s that “with mankind,” that’s with issue, and technically leaves straight and gay couples practicing anal and oral sex at risk of a prison sentence of up to 15 years – or even up to life if the offender is a “sexually delinquent person.”

WHAT THE F***
There is nothing wrong with some good anal sex. These regressive fools need to try it sometime.

are they going to try and make that apply to animals as well? Cows, horses, pigs, dogs, act like animals if not castrated.

God created and man punishes?

People cannot dictate who others are attracted to or how they choose to have mutually agreed sex.

Men who sodomize women against their will, including their wives, should be castrated. Men who rape women should be castrated.

Mutual sex should not be punished.

More info from another source.

It appears the purpose was to criminalize sodomy with animals, however the sponsor did not remove the wording in the statue that applied to human sodomy. His rationalization is that any criminal prosecution of a person for sodomy with another is already unconstitutional, and changing the words further in the statue would cause a fight he didn't want to start.

Aside from some liberal and gay blogs, there's nothing about this out there.

Just remove the language about humans and pass the damn bill. Easy peasy.

will this Bill stop the State from screwing the poor people of Michigan. They sure took it up the arse in Flint!

There seems to be some issue with that. Maybe the more rural Senators are worried about being seen as condoning teh butt sexz.

Removing the "mankind" from the law would make it constitutionally acceptable, but even leaving the words in there is moot because it is unconstitutional when it comes to consenting adults.

The local democratic politicians did all the ramming in this case, the State dropped the ball as their regulator (and the feds dropped the ball as the regulator of the regulator).

How's that big, intrusive government working for ya??

Still a pretty stupid to reason to leave such language in the bill but at least that part is unenforceable.

Having to codify punishing anal sex with animals is pretty stupid to begin with, but since there are nutters out there who will do it, they evidently need to a have a law mandating it as a crime.

The rebuttal to your un researched analysis is here. Nevertheless, it was Snyder who unzipped his executive fly and thrust his tool into the sweltering orifice of Flint politics. He withdrew only after the seeds of destruction had been deeply embedded n the bowels of the city.

Partisan hack hacks away. Surprise surprise. Multiple people fucked up in Flint, but your Agenda dictates you gun right for the Governor. Typical.
