Michelle Obama: 'It Is Our Responsibility As a Nation' to Remember the Slaves

(CNSNews.com) - In remarks at the historic Decatur House in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, first lady Michelle Obama remembered the 20 slaves who toiled at the mansion around the corner from the White House, where "some of our nation's foremost leaders" lived and hosted parties.

The stories of those slaves "too often get lost," Mrs. Obama said.

Oh come on! Gimme a break Moochelle. It's been over a hundred years and nobody alive is responsible for it. You and your husband simply cannot stop playing the race card, can you?

It is our responsibility as a nation to remember that there are four dead Americans, who needlessly died at the hands of terrorists, due to the abject ineptness of MO's husband and administration, who desperately tried to cover-up the FACT that they abjectly FAILED those four Americans, both before the attack, and during the attack.

BTW, MO.....I watched "ROOTS" when I was 9 or 10 years.....It was sad, and that's my extent of dwelling on the issue....I've got more important things to dwell on, other than "remembering" something I nor my ancestors had anything to do with in the first place, period.

Bottom line, take that race card and shove it up your fat, privileged elitist ass,...ya' ''Patient Dumping," phoney fuckin' wench.

Is there anything more repulsive than people on this thread trying to defend the institution of slavery because it happened in other parts of the world?

Well.....THEY did it too
So it makes it OK for us to do it

You folks are a bunch of sick fucks
No other way to describe it
It's called personal responsibility. Something they run from.

Let's forget about slavery. Instead, we can teach our children about Washington confessing to chopping down the cherry tree with his new hatchet. After all, no public school history course teaches about the genoicide of Native Americans, so it never happened...

Of course the genocide of First Nations in America is part of the curriculum. Maybe not in all the school systems, but it is taught.

Here you go sparky.

Hey, if people don't like it, let them give their houses and land to some Indians. If you feel that guilty, DO something about it!

I'm all for us getting the land off the Indians. Nice resources. Definitely a keeper. If somebody wants to wallow in guilt, I expect to see you actually DO something, not just whine oh-how-awful: give your land back to the nearest Cherokee or Sioux and head on back to Poland where you came from.

Same deal with slavery. If they hate having been brought to America so much, let them head right on back to the other side: take up a collection, and I bet a whole lot of white money could be raised for such a worthy cause, if we could take a DNA sample and make it illegal for them ever to come back.

Obviously slavery didn't work out, but mainly for whites. It worked out great for blacks. They've taken over several valuable Caribbean islands, much of South America, and have been parasitic on white culture ever since the Civil War. There's no way they could have spread their population so far from Africa if we hadn't stupidly shipped them here. That was an INCREDIBLE mistake and I think we all realize that!

Fascinating. Pray, do go on.

Fascinating that the only ones keeping blacks enslaved now are democrats...........

@ Circe

Just like a piece of shit to claim the slaves did nothing for America then tell them to pack up and leave the place they established. And of course to a piece of shit that seems fair because pieces of shit have shit for brains

LOL! Republicans are the toast of the Stormfront crowd, what did you expect?

Fascinating that the only ones keeping blacks enslaved now are democrats...........

....derp. Yeah because Metaphorical and Physically are the same thing. Get your head out your ass. Do I mean that metaphorically or Physically?

Boy you guys go to great lengths to pretend you either don't care or that slavery in America wasn't that bad

Okay. So we shouldn't be glad that emancipation happened. Got it.

That certainly seems to be the point for some here.

No, the "Peculiar Institution" was untenable. And the British had shut down imports as of 1806, and they ruled the seas at that time. So that brought the business model (human capital became scarce) under pressure.

The British had figured out well before we did that they shouldn't bring in blacks to England, that it would mess up their race and their culture. Was that because of Shakespeare's Caliban in The Tempest? I wonder. And they didn't: no black slavery allowed in England from quite early. They have NOT managed to continue that high-quality thinking lately, since they have let in a whole lot of Muslims, including many Jamaican and Nigerian blacks, and are now in a lot of trouble because of it, with the Nigerians this week running around with machetes chopping at people.

No, the mistake was not ending slavery, it became seriously untenable. The mistake was not repatriating them all at once --- I know they tried, Liberia, but they didn't make it happen well. Or not allowing it to start in the first place. Talk about the sins of the fathers visited upon the seventh generation ---- well, here we are.

Best of all would have been never starting it in this country. Americans were not the ones who did start it, of course: that was the Dutch, Spanish, French, and British with their sugar colonies and other agricultural plantations in the Caribbean and South America. HUGE slave imports to northern South America, some countries now are solid black there, and all have degraded cultures: Colombia, Venezuela, etc. So it wasn't only us who were so stupid.

A lot of people who don't read the whole novel don't realize that Robinson Crusoe was slaving when he was shipwrecked, for plantations in Brazil. He had a commission to pick up several slaves from wherever he could get them for a small consortium of farmers near his farm.......but it didn't work out well.

No, the whole thing didn't work out well, did it?

Slavery still exists today. We have a nicer phrase for it now though. "Human Trafficking".

No one should ever forget the past horrors of slavery world wide; but I do believe it is far more important to be active in the here and now trying to eradicate the current slave trade.

I see they've resorted to general trolling

Their basic position is that:

Slavery benefited black people.

Americans of the time did nothing wrong because everyone else was doing it.

Black people shouldn't ever mention or even know that they were once beaten, raped, whipped, worked to death and/or torn from their parents because somewhere a white person might say, hey, that was wrong.

If black people do find out about slavery, they should be told to get over it and they should stop being racist.

We abolished slavery in this country but it is still going on - here and everywhere.
The folks who "legally" bought and sold other people before the civil war are long since dead. The people who were enslaved are long since dead. why not work toward prosecuting those who are illegally continuing the practice?

No kidding.

I know I sure as hell don't run around preaching that blacks in Harlem or First Nations or Hawaiians or Argentinians should feel guilty for forever because Stalin decided to starve 8 million of my Ukrainian ancestors to death.

They had nothing to do with the genocide of my ancestors. And conversely don't freaking blame me for the American slave trade.

What do you suppose slaves established? They've destroyed a lot: all the great cities of America, which are now unsafe to walk in. I can remember in my lifetime when women could SHOP, in hats and gloves, in large, great department stores downtown in all the great cities. Now you can't go in there at all and the stores are all closed, for decades.

Detroit destroyed: that's what slaves established.

Show me any city, any country, any island with majority black population that is as good, safe, law-abiding, prosperous as anywhere civilized? You can't. There aren't any, anywhere. Try to find one, any.

As for blacks packing up:

They won't. They just complain how much they hate America, like Michelle has said, and oh-how-awful it is that they ever had to come here. So WHY don't they go back if they don't like it?

I think that's a reasonable question. No one is willing to answer it because the answer is they are a bunch of hypocrites out for as much freebies as they can guilt out of us. They won't go back because here they can live off us; in Africa they'd live in abject poverty in the worst conditions in the world.

And that's the answer when anybody starts whining about oh-how-awful and Roots -- hey, you want to go back to Africa, here's your hat, what's your hurry.

I guess Michelle has slave blood but her husband's heritage most likely goes back to slave traders.

Repeat after me, NIT: Slavery was wrong and that America once condoned it was wrong and it is good that it was eventually outlawed.
