Memphis Police Allow Kidnapping Suspect to Refuse to ID Location of Victim

Once you allow torture there is no stopping who when or why it is used and it is proven that torture provides false confessions and statements to be made
FALSE! Police departments can exercise discretion with how they use force to extract information (which may or may not be "torture"), same as how discretion is used in everything we do, every day.

If the suspect is told the force will resume to a greater degree in response to false statements, that can mitigate false information.

Follow the law...is that impossible for you to fathom?
What "law" ? And even if it was the law, YES it is too much to fathom that we should allow an innocent person to die, or millions of them, when that could have been prevented. Such activity is not only immoral, it is stupid and irresponsible. Is that impossible for you to fathom?

Wow. You are a conclusion jumper, I see. I never said anything about killing anybody. Why do you ?

Um, you talked about a wood chipper.

You don't take off a leg with a wood chipper, dumbass. You reduce someone to shards of DNA with a wood chipper...

And I think YOU are who needs to do the more thinking. And the more sympathizing with the victim, rather than the criminal suspect.

You seem to believe that not wanting to torture the suspect amounts to sympathizing with him.

That's pretty stupid of you to do.

Unless you change our laws, doing things your way would result in the guy getting off. He'd walk. He wouldn't have to give the police a single shred of additional information.

THAT'S what you're advocating...

What we are "supposed" to do, should be relevant to the circumstances. I will take your answer to be that you would let millions of people die in a nuclear blast, rather than force a terrorist to talk.

How stupid. You can't "force" someone to talk.

A terrorist who's set on detonating a nuclear weapon isn't going to give anyone information regarding its location, simply because, in his mind, he's already off to the land of 72 virgins. He knows he's already dead. Torturing him would accomplish exactly nothing...

If you want to talk about the constitution, cite what part of it and how it applies to this case.

In the meantime, here's a question for you. Suppose a captured jihadist tells cops that a nuclear bomb is going to explode in New York City (which has extremely high population density) tomorrow. Has capability of killing MILLIONS of people instantly.

Cops could stop it if they knew where to go. Jihadist says he knows, but refuses to tell them. You beat it out of him, or you let millions of people die ? (millions more after radiation spreads).

The terrorist already knows he's dead. The cops won't beat anything out of him. He won't tell the police where it is. THAT'S what you can't wrap your pointed little head around.

Now, perhaps some sissy like you would fold at the first sight of a pair of pliers, but a committed terrorist isn't going to care...

An "assistantship"?

LOL!! What the fuck is that?

LOL!!
It's the difference between having a lifelong $ucce$$ful career, and having all your 5 years of college go right down the drain, same as if you had never set foot in a college classroom.

Anyone surprised this is the direction they want to go?
Direction? You mean the direction of saving good peoples' lives ? Yup.

And not catering to vicious criminals, while letting innocent people die in the process ? Yup. That would be the direction.
